I recently came across a top ten segment on the internet with the most snakebit franchises of all time and while I wasn't surprised one bit (pun intended) that the Detroit Lions were on this list, more or less just taken back at the fact that they weren't even in the top five!
The franchise has never seemed to find a way to get over the hump, and just when you thought they had, something crazy would happen to key players or something unremarkable would happen on the field where it would cause this team to lose yet again. From having the only guy to die on a field during a game with former Lions wide receiver Chuck Hughes, to having a numerous career ending injuries like Mike Utley getting paralyzed, it's more apparent that we should be #1 than #7.
Numerous failed draft picks and high priced free agents, numerous failed coaches, having the worst regular season record of all time, breaking not one, but two records for consecutive road losses, only one playoff win in over 50 years, no Superbowl appearances, only having 2 probowl QBs ever to play in Detroit and last but certainly not least, we had the worst GM in the history of not only the NFL, but in sports history in Matt Millen.
Here is the link for the segment:
Tell me your thoughts my fellow Lions fans and you decide if this is accurate or not
