Detroit Lions 2011 Pt. 5 OL
Back to the offense, to be or not to be is the question. Should Detroit hang on to Dominic Raiola and Stephen Peterman or just release them and get it over with already.
One would hope that Detroit would be ready to cut off the weak links on its new and improved OL but to me there seems to be hesitation on the behalf of Schwartz and Co. Detroit did awesome this year in pass protection but what has seem to be a pattern in Detroit lately sucked in the run game. I would love to see Detroit upgrade the center and right guard position ASAP, i think that Detroit has a young bunch of lineman that i would like to see step up. Jason Fox, Corey Hilliard, Donald Thomas and Tony Ugoh.
David Baas, Jonathan Goodwin, Marcus McNeill, Davin Joseph, Ryan Kalil, Jermon Bushrod

I don't see any major changes
in the O line this coming year other than hopefully obtaining a guard to challenge Peterman through the draft or free agency. I think Peterman is solid when healthy but as someone (I think it was Profiler) pointed out staying healthy has been a problem for him. If through the draft someone like Moffit perhaps and hopefully he could be cross trained to play Center in camp, Most center prospects in the draft are Dom size and though they might be able to bulk up more it can’t be counted on. Dom didn’t. We’d probably want to do the same thing next year.
Hilliard and Fox may or may not be the long term answer to step in when Backus can no longer fill the LT shoes. I know you heard about a Schwartz quote saying Jeff was our first string LT until the draft. Personally I think he’s just blowin smoke at the rest of the league if he said that wanting someone to believe it. It would be foolish to indicate draft preferences ahead of time and very much unlike the man who doesn’t like to disclose injury status. At any rate I think after another year in the system the staff will have a handle on whether or not Hilliard or Fox can fill the shoes.
Ah but I was so much older then and younger than right now
