Five Lions Players Miss Wednesday's Practice
The Wednesday injury report is out for the Detroit Lions:
Did Not Practice
WR Rashied Davis (Foot), TE Tony Scheffler (Concussion), LB Justin Durant (Concussion), CB Aaron Berry (Groin), S Erik Coleman (Ankle)
Limited In Practice
OT Jason Fox (Foot), DE Cliff Avril (Elbow), DE Lawrence Jackson (Hamstring), LB Stephen Tulloch (Ankle), LB Doug Hogue (Hamstring), S Louis Delmas (Abdomen), S Amari Spievey (Hamstring), S Vincent Fuller (Elbow)
Fully Practiced
LB DeAndre Levy (Knee)
The thing that stood out to me about the Wednesday injury report is that Nick Fairley is nowhere to be found. After making his debut on Monday night, I suppose that shouldn't be too surprising. Either way, it's nice to not see his name on there.
The other thing that stood out to me is how banged up the Lions' safeties are. Coleman, Delmas, Spievey and Fuller are all dealing with injuries, and although some of the injuries are only minor, it's not good that so many players at one position are hurt.

I was impressed with Fairley's debut
He didn’t show up in the stats but his play was obvious to anyone who watches the lines “ok, I am a trench nerd”.
Honestly, I am surprised he was not credited with 1 full tackle from two 1/2 tackles. He is going to be a difference maker on that D line. He seems to have a knack of filling the relevant run gap. Frankly, a welcome surprise from our present stock of DTs that could not find a runner unless tracking them down from behind.

Suh and Williams
Both tackled Adrian Peterson and have tackles on running backs in the last five wins.
Try to find a better athlete than Suh on any defense, please.
I stand by my statement.
Being an athlete does not make a player an automatic run stuffer.

I specifically saw suh stop hester on the 4th and 1.Not just that play but thats usually whos there for the stop on those plays.
yup
I remember that play too. Suh came behind forte to stop him, just like I said in my post above.
Sorry man, Suh is a great player but run stopping is not his specialty.

I do believe Suh made two fairley crucial runs stops on Forte during that 4th and short drive.

Put me in the impressed camp...
For someone with no on the field experience and barely any practice time in the NFL; he was quite noticeable on the line. The rotation of that position is just….insane.
Plus his arms
are just frigging gigantic. Cutler has already been introduced. Can’t WAIT for Mr Rodgers to meet our line on Thanksgiving. Jackson, Avril, Suh, KVB, Willie, Williams, these guys are amazing athletes. Gunther and the Schwartz are literally in defensive heaven right now. This season is going places.
What is the deal with Jason Fox's foot...
I’m still wondering why he didn’t start the season on PUP, but he’s still not ready.
The coolest Lion nickname ever belongs to Dick "NIGHT TRAIN" Lane.

You can't go on the pup list if you've practiced even once
Only IR, and his foot was clearly not bad enough to require that.
I'm most concerned about..
Justin Durant. Bobby Carpenter has been filling in nicely, so I’m not concerned from a depth perspective, but I am concerned from a ‘how long is your concussion gonna last’ perspective. Hopefully this doesn’t keep bothering him for too long.
Anyone think we should sign Roman Sharper
Sure he’s old but he played really good in the past?

This is why I like to keep 11-12 DBs on the roster.
The secondary is usually the most banged up unit on the roster.
Is it Silva time?

Hmmm
Surprised Joe Jon Finley was still available. Looks like Schef may be out awhile.

WOW
I am a Jags fan ( cry for me ) but I am also a UGA grad and HUGE Dawgs fan, so I follow Detroit due to Staff. Monday night I expected to see a damn show put on by Staff, Best, and Johnson….and I got to see that as expected. But what I was ALL KINDA excited about was your freaking Defensive Line, hell your Defense period. Holy WoW!!! Suh is AMAZING. Fairley is going to be phenominal. Vanden Bosch was great. God, I was all fired up screaming at my TV. I LOVED the MNF Intro by Barry Sanders. All I needed to see was the Chrysler 200 Commercial and I may have just broken down in tears of happiness for your team, your town, your FANS! I am riding the Lions bandwagon right now…..WOW…just WOW. GO LIONS!!!
