Trade talks between Oakland and Detroit?

ALLsportsINTEL Rich Smith
BREAKING NFL UPDATE – Oakland Raiders and Detroit Lions talking trade for QB Shaun Hill, heard it here first, will keep updating. reported 10hrs ago

ALLsportsINTEL Rich Smith
If any player were to be moved by the Oakland Raiders to make the trade for Shaun Hill, Michael Bush makes the most sense with Best injury. reported 7 hrs ago.

Very Interesting... I Don't know if this will happen though.. What are your thoughts?

I'm fine with trading Shaun Hill

I feel enough confidence in Staff and Stanton if something were to happen to Matt.

They seem a bit desperate for a qb to start so I say leave with nothing less than a player and mid round draft pick.

This would be an outstanding move for both teams IMO. IF Staff stays healthy.

Although I don’t like the idea of playing against Shaun later this year.

Hopefully, Mayhew can add a draft choice for the Lions into the deal.

But really, I don’t see the Lions doing this unless the injury news on Jahvid is a lot worse than we know.

My 2011 Lions season prediction: 12 wins and 4 losses. I made this prediction the week after the New England preseason game. It's looking a little pessimistic right now.

Seriously ???

We don’t need a rb, we need a line that can open holes for one. All you guys that want a new rb would be bitching at how bad he sucked so why trade a nice backup for another guy to get stuffed behind line scrimmage 80% of the time.

If Shaun hill goes we are getting oline, cb, or lb. or just straight up draft picks but I don’t think raiders have many left for us to want. So player and late rd pick might happen but no micheal bush please

I'm trying to remember where I seen it this morning.

It was rumor stage still, but it is his 2nd one this season, and the Lions will deny it but he played with it during the game and couldn’t remember blocking assignments. The announcers were saying he just stood there as a backer went right on by.

by delusional on Oct 18, 2011 10:27 AM EDT up reply actions

Totally disagree

New on this site but Lions fan my whole life.

Javid has talent and probably a lot of potential, but you cannot completely blame his lack of performance on the oline. With all the injuries and setbacks hes faced, I don’t the hes been able to get enough experience to build up confidence in himself as an explosive runner. And the way things look right now, I’m not sure he ever will (concussions are just going to come easier and easier, and can seriously affect him in the long-term which is very unfortunate).

But there are plenty of backs out there who get it done without an oline. Look at Forte and AP. Granted they are two of the best out there but they dont have an outstanding oline. I think Best has just never settled in, and dont know that he will be able to.

by ridebmx on Oct 18, 2011 12:39 PM EDT up reply actions

I'd disagree.

Last year we didn’t see much development because of him being injured all year, but this year he’s been showing a great amount of maturity and patience.

Revis’s 99yd TD was bogus and was caused by blatant interference.

Palmer is a "FRANCHISE QB"...

Eh...

I don’t think so. Ask any Bengals fan how well Carson has played the last two-three years, and their answer will be “not so great”. Carson used to be a Franchise QB, but injuries have decimated his arm strength, and now he’s merely above-average.

He might

he very well may have been playing like shit the last couple of years because he wants out of Cincy, and maybe a return to the West Coast will rejuvenate him. I don’t know. But I do know that based on the way he’s played the last couple of years, in additon to his age and injury history, that the odds of that happening aren’t very good.

Yeah, the Bengals got a spectacular deal

That’s what happens when desperate teams go looking for a player. No matter what, Palmer wasn’t going to be a Bengal anymore. Cinci would have been fortunate to get a 2nd for him, but a first and another conditional first!?!?!?! They are going to put together one tough team in the coming seasons.

Props to the Bengals

seriously, I take back all of the nasty shit I’ve said about Mike Brown, because he just pulled a robbery on the Raiders.

This is probably even a bigger steal then the Roy Williams trade. I really don’t get it from the Raiders point of view: I understand you’re trying to salvage the season, but is it worth mortgaging your future? Coughing up a first and second round pick for an aging, expensive QB who’s barely an improvement over Jason Campell makes little to no sense to me.

I understand why the Raiders would want Palmer, but I can’t for the life of me understand why they’re willing to give up so much for him. Insanity.

Jason La Canfora of NFL.com reports that the Eagles have made it known Asante Samuel is available. Samuel was also available in August, and no deal happened.

The report indicates the Eagles are looking for veteran defensive players in the front seven rather than draft picks.

Hmm… maybe we could send them something like SLH and a low-round draft pick? Don’t think they’d bite on that though.
