Pro Bowl Ballots, Time to Vote

As I came across the ballot, I was surprised how many Lions players have the stats to make the Pro Bowl.  Some of them don't have the name yet, that is why it is up to us to make sure they get in.

  • Ndamukong Suh is an obvious choice, will probably make it with no problem.
  • Calvin Johnson is also a shoe in, as with Suh we still need to vote for him.
  • Amari Spievey, believe it or not, is the best SS in the NFC, even after missing time.  With people still mispronouncing his name, it is up to us to vote this guy in.
  • Stephen Tulloch needs to be a Pro Bowler and his numbers support it.  Now we need the votes to support it.
  • DeAndre Levy is quietly the leading tackler for OLB's in the NFC.  He is still a virtual unknown to a national NFL audience and he needs us to vote him in.
  • Matthew Stafford  is best of the rest after Rodgers and Brees who are the top of the NFC.  Vote for him.
  • Brandon Pettigrew  Very tough category, with big names like Witten and Finley, Pett is right up there with the best and we need to vote for him.
  • Eric Wright and Chris Houston are both having impressive seasons and I am voting for them, Aaron Berry isn't on the Ballot.
  • Cliff Avril and Kyle Vanden Bosch look to be right outside the top of the NFC, both have good combo of tackles and sacks.
  • Jason Hanson needs get in again.  Lets add to his legacy and make sure he is one of the few kickers inducted in the Hall of Fame some day.

Spend  a little time on the Ballot, these are the guys who get my votes, let's give these guys the credit they deserve!

Hanson is on there!!

Wendling is a no show this year on ST so I forgot to mention him, but he has a chance too.

I think 3 make it

Calvin and Suh are absolute locks. Calvin leads the NFL in TDs and is getting a lot of press for his dominance. Suh not only has the skill, he has the name recognition as he was recently voted the most liked player in the NFL.

The third choice is a little bit of a toss up. Stafford is having a strong start, though he doesn’t have the super star name. I think Rodgers and Brees are locked into the top two slots, with the third going to Stafford, Newton, or Manning.

Pettigrew is having a solid year too, but there aren’t many TE slots on the board and there’s stiff competition from Graham, Finley, Witten, and Tony Gonzales.

KVB and Avril are on the outside looking in. With big name sack specialists like Jared Allen and Osi Umenyiora having big years. Plus, guys like Babin, Pierre-Paul, and Aldon Smith are playing great too.

There really aren’t any big name safeties in the NFC that aren’t injured, giving guys like Delmas and Spievey a shot. Spievey has had a great year so far and could be a star in the making.

Aside from Charles Woodson, no CB in the NFC is really standing out to me right now. Chris Houston had a bad game against Dallas, but he’s been pretty good otherwise. He might have a shot.

Willis and Urlacher are the best MLB in the NFC, Tulloch probably won’t make the cut. On the outside, big name sack specialists like Orakpo and Ware will get the most votes, leaving solid players like Durant and Levy out.

I think both locks make it and one of the cusp guys sneaks in as either a vote or alternate.

Yes, I really am that great.

Urlacher hasn't looked too great this year so far, he's had a couple good games...

… and several less than stellar good games. Patrick Willis no doubt is a first ballot Pro Bowler. Personally right now, I could see Sean Lee of the Cowboys as another LB getting to the Pro Bowl. QB-wise, its likely going to be Rodgers, Brees, and perhaps Eli Manning, or maybe even lolRomo from Dallas. Staffords been inconsistent for the past month+ and that might hurt his chances, and Cam Newton has played very well for the 2-5 (iirc?) Panthers. TE-wise, its a really tough decision, Finely, Gonzalez, Jimmy Graham from NO and Witten are more likely to be the top TEs

Urlacher has name recognition

In a fan vote, that means more than actual playing ability.

Yes, I really am that great.

It's hard to know how these guys are known or unknown nationally.

Detroit has been on NFL replay multiple times, has had a MNF appearance, and multiple games of the week and will be seen on Turkey Day. I think if Spievey and Tully make a difference against the Packers they will have a legit shot along with Pettigrew.

I think there might be 3 Lions this year to make the Pro Bowl

Suh, Megatron, and Hanson. Each is playing very well so far this year. Hanson should considering what he’s done the last 20+ years, and to hopefully cement a spot in the HoF some day (I consider him one at this point). Megatron has a shot at the TD Reception Record, and Suh for what he’s been doing on the field, and facts stated above.

I have developed a man-crush on Spievey

The kid was almost cut and now here he stands a legit starter and playing like one. And I thank him SO SO much for no longer having to place people like C.C. Brown back there. Honestly, I think he deserves MVP of our DB’s right now. He filled a HUGE hole.

Agreed

He’s embraced the switch to safety and looks like a long term starter back there.

Yes, I really am that great.

I said 4

I think 2 is almost a given. I think at least 5 or more deserve to make it, but honestly think 2 only 2 more will squeak in. Probably 1 offense like Grew, and someone on D. I just don’t know how to account for the popularity aspect to decide who will make it?
