Who do you want destroyed?
At 4-0 the big game is approaching. We as Lions fans have been waiting for this game since last year, the fact that it is a Monday night is even better. This game was also one of the fastest to sell out. So we all know it will be good and most likely close contest.
Plus, I know many of us are not big fans of the Bears, (As in many of you here have fantasies of a Lion tearing off a bears head every night), but yes, so I am going put up a poll. What Bears player would you prefer to have the most humiliating game? Who would you like to just be dominated or destroyed. You can either look at this from a stand point of who we take out of this game will get us a win. Or you can view this as I just cannot stand the existence of this player so I want them humiliated by our players.
For me, it has to be Julius Peppers. I will admit, he is a beast and it is hard for any team to keep him contained. But there are two reasons I want him taken out of this game. First of all, from a strategic standpoint. After a mentally horrible start to this season for Jeff Backus, plus many blame him for last years hit on Stafford, he will want to avenge his reputation as our starter. I want Backus to absolutely own Peppers, it is a long shot, but I know Backus can do it when he plays at a high level. (Unless he gets benched again, or was he hurt? I don't know) And when you shut down Peppers you have a much higher chance of winning this game. Number two reason, I know Peppers was doing his job at the time, but I cannot get over the fact he destroyed Stafford. REVENGE!!!!.......cough*
So who would you like taken out of this game? Strategically/for revenge.

I'm totaly with you on this I hope Cutler gets destroyed
I want it so after the game everytime he hears a footstep he jumps 20 feet in the air and runs for cover.
I voted Hester
Cause he’s such a big threat, I’d love to see our team make him look silly.
I watch the Detroit Lions and I....

Eh... just boot it out of the back of the endzone or punt it out of bounds.
Easy enough. Destroy is to hate. Hate is for Jay Cutler.
Talking about punting.....Donahue has been doing one fantastic job for a rook.
He’s been an unsung hero for the team with some of his pressure punts.

Agreed
I haven’t once said that I miss Nick Harris. I thought I would have by now. I see why they kept him.
Not only have I not missed Harris
Donahue looks to be a significant upgrade with youth on his side as well. Great steal by the Lions’ staff.
I dont get to do it often so I am going to take this opportunity ...
I told you so. I am really happy to see some guys taking notice of this guy. To be honest I was surprised when he wasnt drafted late. When I heard the Lions picked him up I was ecstatic. Just couldnt wait for you guys to see what he can provide. Very happy to be able to actually cheer for the same punter maybe 15 years (all 4 years at Iowa).
yes
he has done great. love that pickup

Cutler is a puke!
I hate to see his ugly face. I love watching Bears games to and rooting for the other team to kill Cutler. Now this is our chance on MNF and I’m hoping we rip his f*cking head off.

You forgot their run game, strategically I want to see Chicago limited on the run so that Cutler has to pass and gets sacked/picked all day long.

That offense is definitely built around Forte. Good point. I just forgot about him in my bloodlust for a hurtin Cutler.
Roy Williams? Hahaha. You were joking, right? Good one.
Did you guys see the size of that chicken?
That one was soley revenge based for his years here haha

I'd like to see us outmatch everyone
Probably won’t happen, so I’d like to see us get to Cutler often.
I want to see Forte knocked into oblivion by a two sided Carpenter / Tulloch sandwich
and then see Suh jerk Marion Barber bald-headed.
I thought being lazy was a bad thing, So I gave up thinking.
Well can we go back in time and face the old Bears??????
Because I would like to have Buddy Ryan destroyed so he never would have given birth to the two biggest pieces of s*** to ever step on an NFL sideline
I hope Jeff Backus pokes Peppers in the eyes. Time for some revenge Jeff!

Pretty easy for me, Mike Martz
Because I don’t really care about what happened in last week, last year, last game that we played against them nearly as much as this game. I just want us to win, and if Martz is destroyed then that means their entire offense is having a bad day. It is pretty damn hard to win without scoring points. So I would like to see us shut Mike Martz down, like embarrassingly bad, like historic NFL record setting proportions. I want to see the Bears finish this game with negative overall numbers in every offensive category, that’s right, I want us to win by a score of something like 20-0 all safeties….

OK OK, we can score some pick sixes instead, maybe 2 of them and 3 safeties?

But for there to be actual whining and bitching this time, not just some rhetoric cause he got injured.

I have Rodgers
Mr Avril, Suh, or KVB can make hamburger out of him for all I care. I have Stafford as my back up!
$.02
Game on!
That is one heckuva QB tandem.
I never met him, but he was family to me... R.I.P. Tom Kowalski We will all miss you.

Detroit Lions - the best of the feline themed NFL.
I'd rather just beat them when their entire team is in for sixty minutes.
I don’t dislike any of their players on a personal level and I don’t like seeing anybody hurt.
Statistically I’d like us to destroy all of the above.

I agree...
I voted for Martz and Marinelli. 2 coaches stuck in their own ‘box’ of schemes.
To me a good coach can create a winning gameplan based on the players at hand. These two knuckleheads have their stone chisled gameplans and look for players to execute them.

Well no...
To some extent Schwartz/Gunny/Linny are just as culpable to that logic. But what Detroit did was find GOOD free agent pickups, didn’t squander the talent they had on the roster, and made good draft choices that went toward those schemes. They look like geniuses doing it because they didn’t just look for players to execute it, they found them, looking high and low in the process.
But what Schwartz/Gunny/Linny did while they didn’t have that talent was they made adjustments and they did what they could. As opposed to Martz who, rather than seeing the deficits in the WR corps and on the o-line, has refused to get away from Martyball for the majority of his time in Chicago.
"You've got to respect your opponent, no matter who it is. You respect him best by going out there and beating him up." - Calvin Johnson
Yeah, but I really feel like all three coaches...
have bent their schemes at times, either due to personnel issues or in situational cases. Most coaches have a base scheme, but good coaches bend that to what they want to accomplish through the players they have acquired. And I agree that Mayhew has done a really good job getting the players that the coaches wanted/needed.
Wellll.... you added and expanded my generalization...
Bottom line is…. talent or not… Martz/Marinelli retreated to their schemes rather than adjust for the talent (or lack of) at hand. I believe that even if Mayhew was GM at that time, the success would not have been much different.

Furthermore... Schwartz and his coordinators
Use the given talent and are willing to change the scheme if necessary.

And Gunny’s prevent D antics might argue with you. Not saying I disagree, just saying.

Rex Ryan. I know, I know, he’s not with the Bears, blah blah blah… but I want him destroyed. Immediately.
Yea, i get that but i think i’d rather rob detroyed. Reason being is even rex ryan isnt stupid enough to put his own foot in his mouth..and doubt calvins talents. In fact I bet next time they have a family get together rex while feasting on a leg of lamb will be reveling in laughter while making fun of his dumbass brother for saying something so dumb and getting beat how they did. That being said
FUCK THE RYANS
FUCK JAY CUTLER
FUCK MARK SANCHEZ
AND FUCK DA BEARS!
I don't really want to get into another Backus argument now
But I’d like to clarify two things: Backus’ start of the season, baring the vikings game, has been solid; unspectacular, but solid.
Two: Peppers sacking Stafford wasn’t only Backus’ fault. I won’t claim to know the protection that was being used, but there was a mix up in something that happened on that play, and it looks like Sims messed up as well.
That being said. Sack the fuck out of Cuntler.

The Peppers thing last year particularly pisses me off.
He’s Julius fuckin’ Peppers, people. It’s not like it was some scrub rookie UDFA, it was the guy who’s been arguably the best DE of the last decade. Unless you have Jake Long, you’re gonna give up a play here or there to that dude.
Backus has been a Gladiator for this team, playing through injuries and not missing a game throughout his entire career. We’re now at TEN PLUS YEARS without Backus sitting out for a game. I think it’s sad as hell that Lions fans have treated him the way they have. No, he’s not the greatest LT ever created, but he’s been a warrior through and through, and has stuck with us through the worst of times, and still a majority of Lions fans do nothing but laugh while they piss on his face. Shameful.
He was off in the Cowboys game to IMO
But just to clarify I am not trying to put down Backus. I want him to have a great game to shut down Peppers, so that everyone would get off his back.

Watching the replays on Backus at Minny
He got the blame for the sacks, but most of the problem was not him. A couple missed assignments by other players and it all falls to him. I’m sure the noise at the end of the game caused the false starts, and after two in a row, you are afraid to move, so he got beat.
Look my job is not on the line, if the coaches agree Backus is the guy, then he is the guy!
I don’t think Schwartz would have any problem pulling him otherwise.

I want to shut down Matt Forte. He is an absolute beast and you can kind of compare him and Jahvid Best. Matt’s great with the pass catching and screens and can run the ball(if there are holes)
If i had to pick one from the list i’d have to pick Martz or Cutler
Cutler is a good QB. I like him. But he is the quarterback of the chicago bears and that ruins his rep around here.

Don't get the Cutler hate.
.. to me that’s what sourpuss Denver fans and Chicago Media would do.
Fuck those kinds of people.
What’s Culter ever done to piss you off? Get sacked a fuckload? Look sad?
Whatever.
Cutler hate is a weird phenomenon. I don’t care about Jay Cutler because I don’t take him seriously, and he’s too Emo to last in this league… and he’s never uttered a bad word about Detroit, the city or the team.
Who do I hate? I hate Julius fucking Peppers. Fuck that dude with a turbo jackhammer. Fuck him for blowing Stafford up and relegating Calvin Johnson to receiving throws from Shaun Hill and Drew Stanton. Fuck that prick for putting the irrelevant tag on my team for an entire season, again.

To be fair...
I don’t know that we would’ve been ready to make a playoff run last year, even with a healthy Stafford. We still had too many new and young players trying to forge an identity. Also, Peppers was just doing his job, much in the way that Suh was just doing his job when he hit Cutler and Bears fans cried foul.
If it makes you feel any better (probably won’t), Peppers said this today when asked about Stafford’s injury last year:
"To be honest with you, it really doesn’t get me excited to see anybody get injured," Peppers said. "It’s not something I take a lot of pride in, the fact that I hit him and injured his shoulder last year."
Obviously the Peppers quote was.. timely
By looking at the way he demolished Stafford on the play, I’m sure you can excuse me for thinking otherwise. If he says it, I believe him.
Again, I don’t get the Cutler hate. As far as I know he never did anything except get pissed when Josh McDaniels wanted to trade him. I’m not gonna blame the dude because some shitbird Chicago fans don’t like his temperance.
