The Detroit Lions confirmed the signing of safety Vincent Fuller this morning. They also announced that offensive guard Jacques McClendon was released to make room on the roster for Fuller.
McClendon was originally brought in after the final round of roster cuts. The Lions claimed him off waivers after he was let go by the Indianapolis Colts. Chris Morris was released to make room for McClendon.
Fuller very well may only spend a couple of weeks with the Lions while guys like Erik Coleman and Amari Spievey get healthy. Since both are banged up, the Lions wanted insurance at safety, and Fuller can provide that since he spent the last six seasons in Tennessee. A few of those years he played for Jim Schwartz, so he should be familiar with the type of defense the Lions run.
