Lions Notes: Nick Fairley To Make Debut On Monday Night Football?
- ESPN Chicago's Michael C. Wright is reporting that Nick Fairley will make his Lions debut on Monday night. He also reports that Fairley has informed his friends and family who are coming to Detroit for the game that he will play in a "situational capacity."
I wouldn't be surprised one bit if Fairley does play in certain situations on Monday, but Fairley told Dave Birkett that no friends and family are planning on coming to Monday's game as of right now. That could change if Fairley finds out he will in fact play, but I highly doubt a decision has already been made, as the report from ESPN Chicago suggests. - According to Richard Deitsch, Barry Sanders will narrate the opening for the Monday night game between the Lions and Bears.
- 50,000 pink towels will be handed out to fans at Monday's Lions-Bears game as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The promotion is sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.
- ESPN has parted ways with Hank Williams Jr., who is famous for his Monday Night Football theme song.
- Jason La Canfora reports that the Lions worked out Nick Cole, Aaron Francisco, Montrae Holland, Cecil Newton, Max Starks and Reggie Stephens on Wednesday.
- Rashied Davis, who has been dealing with an injury, is hoping to play against the Chicago Bears, his former team. Even if he isn't able to play, he says he knows about all of the Bears' tricks on special teams, so he should at the very least be able to give the Lions a solid scouting report.
- On average, the Lions are ranked fifth in subjective NFL power rankings and sixth in objective (formula-based) rankings. (Via Mavyrk)
- ESPN has started MegatronWatch, which tracks Calvin Johnson's touchdown receptions game-by-game alongside Randy Moss' record 2007 season and Jerry Rice's amazing 1987 season when he had 22 touchdowns in 12 games.
- Ndamukong Suh ranked 18th in the NFL's jersey sales from April 1 to Sept. 30 this year.
- Fans will be able to buy tickets to Super Bowl media day next year.

Would be nice to see Fairley, but I only see him playing 12-15 snaps
Schwartz has already said he’s not going to throw him in there heavy, and will only start him out slow.
Hank Williams Jr. lol at him, and espn for firing anyone who has an opinion outside of sports…
Looking forward to see the Barry Sanders narration
I would think 5-6 snaps, but I have no basis for that.
12-15 would be fantastic though.

Barry Sanders is going to lead us into MNF?
That sounds awesome. I cannot wait to see it.

Channel for the game?
I know wxyz will be doing the game, but are the normal affiliates going to be broadcasting the game?
I don’t see it anywhere on my tv guide.

Thank you Kris Draper and Chris Osgood for all the memori
I knew that
But according to wikipedia, they also broadcast it over-the-air, and since I don’t have cable I would rely on it.
If they changed their policy, that would be :( Regardless, shortly after my post, my friend called and we decided to watch it at his place. So this no longer refers to me, but others might be interested if they do broadcast it.
I know it will be broadcasted on WXYZ, just didn’t know if other stations would or not.

I'm so pissed
My cable company “Bloom” doesn’t offer ESPN so I’m stuck watching the game on a stream. I was thinking about going to a bar but theirs nothing quite like watching a Lions victory in the confides of your own home!

pretty sweet
we got leaders all over the team.
everyone knows Stafford has the teams respect.
everyone knows how KVB pushes the Dline and the D as a whole.
In the video you got Burleson stepping up as a leader, you got the brand new lion Steven Tulloch stepping up as a leader.
This really looks like a team that fits together pretty damn well.
Man,Thanks for posting that
was great to see even more of our team in action. That’s heart in action

or did the Lions work out Cam Newton’s father?
My grandfather was a Packers fan, my father is a Vikings fan, I am a Lions fan, and there is no way in hell I am raising a Bears fan.
Oh, and I hate the Philadelphia Eagles (but like the Phillies)
was gonna say the same thing
I think they are looking for a way to pay off sCam for the game

Wow
Can’t believe they got rid of Hank Williams Jr. simply because he made mention to Hitler in an analogy. They are seriously blowing things out of proportion and being overly sensitive. What in the world is monday night football without the “Are you ready for some football!!!?” Song? honestly, I like Sunday afternoon football better haha
Song is putrid IMO and Hank is a dumbass.
To think he could make a provocative, political comment like that and not expect any kind of repercussions is pretty idiotic on his part.
As far as free speech goes, you can say whatever you want but don’t expect some business like ESPN to stand behind you. They have no constitutional obligation to be represented by and employ a dope like that.
Hilarious that Hank is not man enough to own up that he said something stupid, but instead plays the victim card.
"Filling a need doesn’t necessarily mean you’re getting a good player," said Schwartz. "It doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re getting a player that best fits; it doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re getting a player that’s better than what you have already."

haha wow
Hank is old school country. He should be able to say stuff and not get fired just because of that statement. He is a victim of daily media being to sensitve and ESPN being the dumbass’es. he’s man enough to stand up to his comments

he’s man enough to stand up to his comments
I would like to politely disagree with you. Sometimes blind stubborness is all it takes to stand by one’s comments. I tend to think a ‘real man’ is not afraid to say “My bust”. I understand the opposing sides of this argument, but decline to take sides as I don’t much care either way. I will say though, after reading Williams Jr’s statement he made, I walked away with the impression of ’I’m taking my ball and going home’
It's turkey, Lions and Macy's. Any other combination is just ludicrous.

I do agree, I hope I didn’t give the impression otherwise. Sometimes I come out guns a blazin’ and forget to mention that I agree with something as long as there’s no ‘always’ attached.

cant wait to see fairley play the bears on monday
and crush cutler also intrested to see what barry has to say
32 sounds good matt stafford
It'll be good to see Fairley have a run round
I’m more interested in the Megatronwatch now. I hope he can get close, or even beat Moss’ record.
Will this game set Fairley up for success?
Will coming out and having a big game, smashing Cutler’s face in the turf, have a positive or negative effect on Nick. He may get a big head and think he is the greatest thing ever. Personally I would like to think of killing QB’s as a drug. Killing Cutler is like his first dose of heroine and no matter how many more QB’s he destroys he will always be looking for that same great feeling as ripping Puke-face Cutler apart for the first time.
Silly post I know, I am just excited to possibly see him play and hope he does rip Cutler’s head off. I believe our team is extremely focused and highly doubt that Fairely would lose motivation with a strong performance. Just some food for thought.
