Lions RB's
Does anyone else think that there is a possibility that Kevin Smith is utilized more and more every game? I might even push the issue and say there is a chance he splits carries with Maurice Morris against Carolina and potentially gets increased work load against Green Bay.
Watching him against the Bears, he looked like the Kevin Smith of old that rushed for over 900 yards (I understand he only had a handful of carries, but a Lions fan that has watched this team over the years I think would understand what I am saying). He looked light on his feet while on the other hand, Maurice Morris seemed to fall down on 80% of the plays he was in, whether it was blocking or running routes. I will give him the benefit of the doubt on Chicago's field conditions. But Kevin Smith also got more carries than K. Williams and he wasn't even with them a week. I think that says something about the confidence they have in him already.
Does anyone agree or have an opinion on this, or am I just crazy?

I agree
I think that eventually he will be number 1 over Morris until Best comes back. K Smith had a couple nice runs in Chicago. If he can deliver in the next 7 games I believe we will be one of the wild card teams.
Because Mayhew is slightly trigger happy
He sees somebody who MIGHT be a slight improvement over what we have and he goes out and makes the change. It’s not a bad strategy for anything other than consistency and familiarity. New players have to learn the playbooks, etc. But this is also how you get a Corey Williams and an Alphonso Smith or Chris Houston.
i still think they're not giving Keiland the right kind of runs.
He’s being way underutilized.
The boys are back in town!
And I agree with this

K Williams
I think K Williams was a good pick up at the time. Watching him in the past, he was a bruising north and south runner. He never went for the BIG gain, but was consistantly getting 3-4 per carry it seemed. However, watching him this season, it looks as though he is trying to change his running style and continues to hop around in the backfield instead of just dropping his shoulders and goin – thats what we signed him for. Morris can do that though and he has done really well and has been a GREAT pickup for us. I say that they drop K Will. Keep Best, Leshore, K Smith and Morris. Use K Smith and Leshore as the feature running backs next year but use Best in certain formations. This will limit the amount of hits he takes and prolong his career
3-4 a carry is nothing but below average and average.
4 ypc should be the minimum for any back you consider worthy of keeping. Good backs reach 5 and 6 ypc.
With all the injury concerns about Best.
Is there any chance we let Logan go in the offseason and make Best our KR/PR? It would limit the amount of time he’s on the field, while still making use of his speed.
I'm a 7 WAR player in bed.
DFA Rev Halofan, The New York Yankees, The Tampa Bay Blue Seats, Carl Crawford, John Lackey, Darnell McDonald, Dave Magadan, Tim Bogar, Buck Showalter, Dan Johnson, Hawk Harrelson, Jonah Keri, Murray Chass, Mark Sanchez, Micheal Vick, Jared Allen, Jerry Jones, Al Davis, Rex Ryan, Rob Ryan, Trent Dilfer, Heath Evans, Cris Carter, Vuvuzelas, The Chicken Dance, Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Stephanie Meyer, and the entire fucking city of Philadelphia.
Best
That is an interesting twist and would be interesting to see. I think a player like Percy Harvin is a good example of what they could do with Best. But who knows, has he been able to return punts and kicks? I don’t think that they do it, but is definitely something that they could think about, especially considering the LACK of production from Logan in the return game. Not all of that is contributed to him, but it’s not as good as it was last year, plus he seems to eager to call for a fair catch lately
Yeah NFL just wiped out a position pretty much
KR is no longer a position in the NFL. PR is, but KR is useless. Maybe get 1 a game, and that comes from 4 yards deep in the endzone…so barring a miracle, you’re not doing anything with a kickoff. However, as we’ve repeatedly seen this season, PR is still a VERY important position. Logan hasn’t performed there lately. IDK though, I’ll give him the rest of the season before deciding if he’s useless to this team as anything but a PR. IE: can he play slot or be a RB like they’ve had him at times?
I think he will get a good share.
That run he had last week when he trucked someone, a safety I think, made me pretty happy to see him back. Hopefully he will run with that chip on his shoulder every time he touches the ball. It would definitely give the offense another weapon who could do some damage rather than relying on passing the ball every play.
Lion's running backs!
Yes I think kevin Smith will gat more carries, but I also think Best will be back Thanksgiving Day game against the Packards!
KSmooth will take most of KW's as well as MM's carries...
he looked good against Chi the little time he was out there but he has alot fresher legs than Morris and Williams at this point. I think if he runs like he did last week on the reg he will do more than just split the carries with Best, he be the featured back in the D. As we all know Best isnt an every down back and never will be. Look for Best to be used as Bush was in NO and in Mia and lets hope to god Leshoure is back next year.

I don't care who the RB is, really...
…as long as they start running every single time there are 5 and 6 men in the box. The Bears put 6 in the box all night and we passed anyway.
Smith
I expect Smith to be the starter for the Thanksgiving game. I love bringing Smith back and I think he’s really going to help our run game.
Like I said...
Smith is gonna be the starter against Green Bay. Our rushing attack is soo much better with him its unreal
