Matthew Stafford, Kevin Smith Up For Weekly NFL Awards

PrintThanks to their outstanding performances on Sunday, Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford and running back Kevin Smith have been nominated for a few weekly awards on NFL.com.
Stafford is up for the FedEx Air Player of the Week and the GMC Never Say Never Moment of the Week. This is because he threw for 335 yards and five touchdowns. He battled back from two early interceptions and led the Lions to a comeback victory through the air.
The Lions' comeback was also made possible by Smith's performance on the ground. He rushed for 140 yards on only 16 carries and had three total touchdowns. The amazing and surprising game by Smith resulted in him being nominated for the FedEx Ground Player of the Week. The other nominees are Cleveland's Chris Ogbonnaya and Baltimore's Ray Rice.

that this is the first time in the FedEx player awards that teammates have been nominated in the same week. Would be really nice if they both win too.

Funny thing
is the competition isn’t even close.
There should be a brewhaha if both don’t win!

Both deserve it...
actually they both earned it. Stafford 5 tds to 5 different players and Smith 200+ total yards and 3 tds all in the second half.
