Jahvid Best Reportedly Will Miss Sunday's Game
Detroit Lions running back Jahvid Best has missed two games since suffering his second concussion since August. The concussion happened against the San Francisco 49ers, and he was out against the Atlanta Falcons and Denver Broncos.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Best will miss his third game on Sunday, when the Lions play the Chicago Bears. Schefter reports that Best is "unlikely to play" and will meet with "more doctors" this week.
Best, who has dealt with concussions dating back to college, is scheduled to meet with more doctors this week and will undergo further testing, the source said.
I suppose it's no coincidence that this news came out shortly after the Lions signed running back Kevin Smith. They were in need of more depth at the running back position, and Smith is someone who knows the offense and should be ready to play on Sunday. Maurice Morris and Keiland Williams will likely get the bulk of the carries, but Smith could see some playing time as well.

I don't think that's a big surprise
Bringing in K-Smoove was a pretty bad sign for Best.
I would be suprised to see Best before thanksgiving
I still am not not positive there is much of a chance that that will happen.

I wouldnt count him out yet
Doctors havent even looked at him. At least no confirmation yet. 3 weeks is more than enough time to heal from a concussion. He just needs more padding on his helmet :) Tuff it out Best and get ur ass out there!

I think with the lack of practices that he'd be out this week.
next week is more likely unless he gets checked and cleared today to come out for practice tomorrow.
the only thing that heals concussions is time...
I haven’t seen anything to “thicken” the jello around brain. Hopefully he can get a helmet with pillows sticking out of it.

K Smoof better remember how to block.
Anyone remember Lawrence Phillips? Steve Young doesn’t, either.

I hate to say this and you guys are not going to agree with me but
I think its time to draft another speed RB. Concussions are no joke, and he has had several of them since being in the nfl, and dating back to college.
I like Best alot, one of my favorite backs we had, but if keeps having these concussions he going to be forced to retire for the welfare of his life….
they will probably shorten his career no doubt
however, the average career of an NFL running back goes down each year it would seem.
in Best’s case losing Leshoure didn’t help. I don’t think the plan ever this year was to have Best get as many carries as he did and in the plays he was getting them. Probably 1/3 of the plays he was in for were ones he wouldn’t have been otherwise.
If he sticks to his game, playing to the edges, catching passes, and such I think he’ll limit the chances of getting more concussions.
Ya losing leshoure hurt bad
I just hope and pray he doesn’t have anymore, for his health sake. He has had to many already
maybe
but it was during just such a play that he suffered his most recent concussion.

"This news"
sounds like pure speculation. But even so, it might be a good guess…it’s really a shame if he misses a month on a pretty average-lite concussion…more RBs indeed..
The boys are back in town!
average-lite concussion?
what are you basing that on? every concussion for every person is different. especially for someone like Jahvid that has had prior concussions. that is why it’s always silly to speculate when someone might come back because no one knows until they know. you can’t just say “concussion, out two weeks” and be done.
Agreed Jedi
Every concussion is very very different. For instance even though this is hockey it doesnt change the fact that it is a concussion.Example Sidney Crosby, dude has been out now for over a seasons time and still isnt ready to play. I honestly dont know if he will ever play again with how long its taking him to come back or if he will be the same player when he does. Concussions are crazy and not to be taken lightly I am hoping for the “best” for jahvid but I really hope they are as cautious with this. We have a decent enough stable of Rb’s to keep our running game decent.
