Going to Detroit! Have questions!

Hello PODers! My girlfriend and I, along with my dad, mom, aunt, and a few cousins will be traveling to Detroit for the Panthers @ Lions game on November 20. Needless to say, I'm super excited about my first trip to Ford Field and the City of Detroit. My dad and his family all grew up in Toledo, Ohio, and we've been Lions fans as a family since my grandfather began watching them forever ago. I was raised in North Carolina, hince me liking the Panthers, (but the Lions are my team! I'll be dawning my Suh jersey and be picking up a CJ one and other goodies while I'm in Detroit!) and I hope the Lions kill the Panthers on the 20th. Since this is my first trip to Detroit (and only my 2nd trip to a major metropolitan area, the first being Minneapolis since I currently live in western MN) I have some questions about the city and was wondering if any Detroiters and fellow Lions fans could answer them for me.

First of all, I'm only staying in the city for 1 night (19 November), and I booked a hotel called Milner Hotel on 1538 Centre Street. From the maps it looks like it's in walking distance of Ford Field, or if not a very short drive. The pictures made it look quite nice (they always do, don't they?) and Fairley cheep. (See what I did there?). Did I make a good choice?

Seeing as how I only have 1 night to enjoy the city, 1 place to get dinner, before the game on Sunday and me leaving afterwards, what restraunts would you recommend for a 1 hit wonder, a restraunt that makes me hungry every time I hear the name Detroit because it was so good?

What are the things I'd most regret not seeing in Detroit? If you had a "top two" things that you'd recommend everyone see (besides Ford Field, of course!) when they visited your city, what would they be?

On the contrary, what are some places you'd tell me to stay away from? Whether it's due to safety, not much to do, or just some place as a resident of Detroit you'd not want to go to.

Anyways, thanks so much for your replies. I'm completely stoked about my trip to Detroit, and I don't get to do this often so I want to make it count. GO LIONS!
