Goodell meeting

Taken from the Detroit News webpage. Just wondering what's everyone's thought on this. Quoted towards the end, he stuck up for the officials saying they make 98 -99 percent of the calls correct.

NFL boss Roger Goodell impressed with Lions' Ndamukong Suh

"He's intelligent, he's passionate," said Goodell, who's in Detroit for today's Lions-Vikings game. "I met him the day before the (2010) draft, we continue to stay in touch. I think he's going to be a great player in the NFL for many years to come.

"I was very impressed with the fact he wanted to come in (to the NFL's New York offices) 30 days or so ago and take the time with our staff (to discuss the rules). Players don't do that frequently, and I think that speaks volumes about the kind of guy he is."

So he said we were getting more penalties because we are a good team now and getting more attention

That is such crap. So he throws out the whole placating “you guys are good now” thing to try and flatter the people into taking whatever BS explanation is given. Then he throws out the “so you are getting more attention” BS. Uhh. so if we were bad the refs wouldn’t call penalties on us? Did the head of the NFL just say that the refs throw flags on a sliding scale based on how well the team is doing?

If I were in the audience when he gave that explanation, I would have gotten a 15 yard roughing the idiot penalty and probably an ejection.

Would really love a transcript of the meeting

Was anybody who posts around here at the meeting???

Would like a little more than just a fricken media write up with some general quotes. I thought that it was an open forum type deal where the season ticket holders could ask questions, etc etc. Not just a meet and greet, shake hands, smile in your face, stab you in the back type of deal.

The season ticket holders were asking some great questions. I can’t give any general quotes but I can say that his answers were pretty generic IMO and he really didn’t get into too much detail on anything asked.

goodell needs to ask the refs why they donot call any holding call on the packers when we play them and why they let the packers play drity as team on defnsive side of the ball but donot get any calls on them and we do for the same kind of play .and its called as for suh play in the game we played them he got kick out of the game and should have ben fined but give him 2games off was just plan wrong .in the same game suh got kicked out of woodson tryid to punch a player in the game and used his helmeant to a players haed a lest3times in the game but thier was no call and hewas given any time off for his play in the game .and not kicked out of the game .my point is the refs need to stop listing to the medida about how ateam is playing drity or player and how great the packers are . and how many games they won in a row . goodell needs to ask the ref our they trying to be part of recored for the packers this year by macking sure they get the ben fect of a few calls in the game and is the team thier playing get the same benfect if not then it needs to change .yousay aftear a players has fine and talcked to that they our out of or dog house but then they get all the refs watching them to sea if they srewwupin the game so give the team they our playing a leg up in the game . aso hear idea why not put your best se of refs toref big games during thanks giveing so we dot not have this proleam.
