Lions Game Ball Of The Week: Matthew Stafford
Matthew Stafford has been on a tear lately, and for the second week in a row he is a recipient of a Detroit Lions game ball. He is receiving a game ball this week for his lights out performance last Saturday against the San Diego Chargers. In the most important game of the season, Stafford had one of his best performances ever and led the Lions to a 38-10 victory.
On Saturday, Stafford was 29-of-36. He threw for 373 yards and three touchdowns, and he didn't turn the ball over once. He completed passes to seven different receivers during the course of the game and put up monster numbers yet again.
Over the course of the Lions' current three-game winning streak, Stafford's numbers are as follows: 991 yards, nine touchdowns and zero interceptions. If he can continue playing at this high of a level going forward, the Lions should be able to beat anybody. He is looking like an elite quarterback, and his numbers as of late certainly back up the notion that he is one.

I'll be surprised if you get any argument about this game ball.
One of my key measurements for evaluating a team [especially in the NFL] over a season is how they finish the year out, and once again the Lions are finishing strong.
And that goes double for Matthew Stafford. As you mention in the article, this was the best game I believe he has ever played for the Lions [I only saw the first half], in the most important game that he has ever played for this franchise [so far].
It wasn’t dramatic [thank goodness!!], but it sure was effective.
"I’m sorry for all the people who want us to run the ball 40 times a game, but we’re going to put the ball in No. 9’s hands and he’s going to make plays for us like he did today," Lions coach Jim Schwartz said. Amen to that Jim!
The only argument you could possibly make
Is giving this game ball to Mayhew for assembling this team that’s getting us into the playoffs
We didn't lose the games, we just ran out of time -- Bobby Layne
this is what I was talkin bout... while he was chuckin that pass...

"Lemme Tell you why I have confidence in the long term future of this team... It's #9, That's why I have confidence in the long term future of this Team." - Jim Schwartz
Matthew Stafford has always had talent. Now he has confidence. Talent + confidence = Star Power
He was a deserving number one overall. Now he KNOWS he can do it. Even Calvin Johnson calls him a coach on the field. The playoff stage is set – - – Are we seeing a superstar in the making?

I'm telling you, if it wasnt for that glove, we would have a better record by now!
But either way, bah da bah bah bah – I’m Lovin it!
"You simply cannot escape it. It's everywhere. There is a feeling the likes of which we haven't seen in decades. Emotions are high. Morale is climbing. People, once again, have something to talk about other than how disastrous our financial situation is and the collapsing of modern society." - Yahoo sports blogger.
Alright..
I’ve been hearing Matt Forte to the Lions is a possibility for next year… Anyone else hear anything about that?

There is currently no universe
where I see Matt Forte landing in Detroit. I’d love it, I like Forte, but my lottery ticket this week will pay off before that trade will happen.
It's turkey, Lions and Macy's. Any other combination is just ludicrous.
Twitter is for pussies. I follow people in real life.

I did see that article mentioning it could happen.
Jerry Angelo certainly is dumb enough, but yeah, Forte coming here isn’t something I’m going to spend alot of time considering a real life possibility.

Franchise tag book it
to even sit around talking about this while Leshoure has yet to take a snap is a waste of time. Will not, cannot, not gonna happen. I know they say never say never but I’m saying it. Forte will not be a lion next year. In no scenario. I can’t even see with Cliff, Calvin,Backus and more needing to get paid that our cap will even allow it.
