I think my "colleague" makes a really interesting point about how the Lions draft:
It's not a secret the Lions are interested in players at the Senior Bowl. Most of the invitees fit the bill for what the Lions look for. Seniors, mature players, leaders etc. Looking back at the 2009 Senior Bowl roster, the Lions drafted 3 players that participated, traded for another, and picked one up in free agency. Brandon Pettigrew, the teams second 1st rounder, participated as well as 2nd round pick Louis Delmas and receiver Derrick Williams. The Lions also traded for Alphonso Smith and signed Ashlee Palmer, both we're also participants. I don't anticipate this trend changing anytime soon and I expect more Senior Bowl players to end up on the Lions draft board.
What do you guys think?
