No Shaun Rogers post yet.....here we go.......

Do we want Shaun Rogers back? What do we give him contract wise?I think I remember reading earlier in the season that he wants to come back, anyone know for sure? What role will he play in our Defense?

Wouldn't Mind Shaun Rodgers back...

I think he would be a better rotation guy than Fluellen plus i can still see his big o 300+ self running in that TD for us… and better than Albert Haynesworth.

as long as he doesn’t bring a gun on anymore airplanes, I’m fine with it.

Fail to see where he would fit.

More like 'Old Fucking Baby'

Guy is 32, hasn’t produced in easily 2 years, and guys that are 350 lbs do not age well in football years, I’d wager.

I would rather have a young, 310 lb Andre Fluellen than that gun toting retard.

Same goes for Haynesworth

I’ll pass on a guy who rips off people’s helmets and stomps their faces in front of ~70,000 or so people.

Also note the first comment on the video:

This guy is grade A trash. I was at the bar last night and there he is sitting 3 feet away from me, sucking face with some money grubbing whorebag. And of course, everyone is on his nuts, although he’s done nothing but be a little whiny fat piece of shit for most of his run while in Washington. On top of that, he is a complete asshole to fans, like my friend whose stepdad moved in next door to him. Good thing my other friend pisses on his door handle every time he visits that building…

So a top-end NT is not supposed to generate stats?

FOURTEEN TACKLES. 2.0 SACKS….. and that’s it, in 2010.

2009: TWENTY SEVEN (!) TACKLES. 2.0 SACKS. And one monster pass deflected.

Yeah, no thanks. He’s a 32 year old obese guy who used to overwork his body a ton. That is not the descriptor that I want for a player on a budding defensive line.

Hey, if you want to ignore 2 years of declining production after a stellar year in the exact same system

in lieu of realizing his age and motivation determine his play (hello, Haynesworth), that’s your MO.

by Nate D. on Feb 9, 2011 9:04 PM EST up reply actions

In 08 he played for Romeo and played in a 4-3

The last two years he has played NT in Mangini’s 3-4 thus less stats

do we need another Browns Player? ... Probably Not

Started w/ Shaun Smith who when he came here Rodgers told him Detroit was a decent club, then w/ Shaun who was pending the whole suspension thing and then Schwartz thought better of it and cut him before season even began.

Then this year they grab Williams and he actually was a piece to the puzzle .. funny back to back years they pick from the Browns D-Line

Now Rodgers is avail and the thought is .. Does Detroit have a true need for him now? … I do believe he suffered same as williams playing in a 3-4 defense and hes a 4-3 guy and that his age isnt a concern especially since he can play another 3 years easily at near top performance if he had the drive to do so before he starts to degrade some naturally. In Detroit though ? …. No Sammie is our new Rodgers and so is Williams and w/ Suh they are really only looking for depth behind sammie .. maybe another young player they can develop would be more ideal but Rodgers is going to want to assume more of a starting role.

And now finally he didnt actually say he wanted to come back, i cant find the qoute exactly but i could of swore it was more on the lines that he was telling Williams his former team mate that he would like Detroit and that he would “mind” it , more so than he actually wanted too.

Is Joe Haden or Joe Thomas an option…Or even Staffords buddy Masaqoui

We never should have gotten rid of him in the first place

I don’t know if now is the time to bring him back though. Besides QB and TE, DT is literally the last place we need any help.

Let’s get younger, not older. We’re not trying to make a Super Bowl push next year or anything.

The Lions could bring in Shaun Rogers....

as a tackling dummy. They could pay him with bags of potato chips and cans of pop. Rogers is useless at this point of his career. He will end up going to some unfortunate team that will overpay him on the off chance he might have another season or two left.

by TuffLynx on Feb 10, 2011 6:21 AM EST reply actions

He could be a good

Mentoring veteran to a team with a young line.

But we already have two mentoring vets, so I see no upside to him coming here.

by Mavyrk on Feb 10, 2011 10:21 AM EST up reply actions

I'd bring him in - he wants to be in this city

Shaun Rogers could be a good fit in the rotation. We have 2 UTs that we’ll keep for a long time (Suh and Hill) – It would be awesome if Rogers could be our second NT, substituting for Williams. Bringing him in could also create the potential for that 5-2 dynamic… not to mention a few goal line packages. I am biased though… partly from the ol’ days and that denver beat down… Of course he would have to come in at a club minimum and I wouldn’t hesitate to cut him when the team narrows down the roster late august.

!

get haynesworth, probably need to pass on big baby…

either way, they would be rotation guys and would get <%35 reps

by x$pcents IV on Feb 10, 2011 9:58 AM EST reply actions

I’m not against bringin him back, guy could be, when he wanted to, be a beast, but stick his big ol ass in the middle on a 5-2 d-line a 1/4 of the time…that could be scary in a good way. Not to mention I think (no facts or link though) he has the most blocked field goal actively? maybe? anyone got the info on that? Besides it would be fun have Suh, C Will and Big Baby lined up at the same time and have them all decide this play was the one there all going to bull rush all out…it would be funny watching 0-line laying on there ass and QB screamin like a little girl.
