Players to look out for in each round

1st round

  • Tyron Smith, OT, USC - Most analysts have him as the #1 tackle, im just scared he might not be a LT in the NFL.
  • Anthony Castonzo, OT, BC - Mayock has him as the best tackle and can play both LT and RT and Guard.
  • Nate Solder, OT, Colorado - Great athlete and could be an All Pro LT and worst case solid RT
  • Prince Amukamara, CB, Nebraska - Will be the pick if he falls to us at 13.
  • Robert Quinn, DE, UNC - If he falls to us, he would be very hard to pass up.
  • Julio Jones, WR, Alabama - Freak WR that would be a nightmare for defenses with him lined up across from Calvin.
  • Jimmy Smith, CB, Colorado - Could be a shutdown corner if he can keep his head on straight. Would also fit in perfect in Detroit since Jimmy Smith is the name of Eminem's character in 8 mile.
  • Akeem Ayers, OLB, UCLA - Didn't show up well at the combine but could still be an option.

2nd round

  • Aaron Williams, CB, Texas - First round talent but not sure if he is a corner or safety.
  • Stefen Wisneiwski, C/G, Penn State - Best Center in the draft, and Dom needs to go soon.
  • Bruce Carter, OLB, UNC - Injury is the only reason this guy isnt gonna be our pick at #13, could even fall into the 3rd round.
  • Titus Young, WR, Boise St - A great option as our #3 WR, sure handed, great route runner.
  • Jonathan Baldwin, WR, Pitt - Could be an absolute star in the NFL, just needs to not be such a diva.
  • Daniel Thomas, RB, Kansas St - Huge, power running back that fits the bill for Thunder to Best's Lightning.
  • Brandon Burton, CB, Utah - Has the skills of a top 5 corner and could be a future starter.

3rd round

  • Demarco Murray, RB, Oklahoma - Could be a steal, fast and agile, runs too straight up. Plus he was a huge Lions fan growing up.
  • Johnny Patrick, CB, Louisville - Good player with good value in the 3rd round.
  • Mason Foster, OLB, Washington - Would fit the bill perfectly in Detroit as a strong side OLB.
  • Rashad Carmichael, CB, VA Tech - Quick and agile with good ball skills
  • Jason Pinkston, OT, Pittsburgh - Talented kid, that could be a good mid round pick up if we dont get a OLineman in the first or second round.
  • Jordan Todman, RB, UConn - Very talented, versatile back that could be a great mix with Best.
  • Quan Sturdivant, LB, UNC - A linebacker that just gets the job done.
  • Greg Jones, LB, MSU - Would be a hometown favorite but could be a poor mans Ernie Sims.
  • John Moffitt, OG, Wisconsin - Big bruiser, that would help open holes and protect Stafford.
  • Shareece Wright, CB, USC - Is a good prospect as a true tackling corner, isnt afraid to make the hits.
  • Greg Little, WR, UNC - Freak wide out that fell because of the sanctions, but is a 3rd round steal. Think of the Bucs Mike Williams but bigger.

4th round (BPA no matter what position, besides QB)

  • Davon House, CB, New Mexico State - Has all the tools to be a great corner, but is too small.
  • Robert Sands, S, West Virginia - "The Predator" could be a great dreaded teammate with Delmas.
  • Ross Homan, OLB, OSU - Fast and a sure tackler, could be a good pick even though hes a buckeye.
  • Demarcus Van Dyke, CB, Miami - Fastest player at the combine, a bit small like Phonz though.
  • Deandre McDaniel, S, Clemson - Freak athlete that was suppose to be a 1st round prospect.
  • Deunta Williams, S, UNC - Great player but an even better mental make up, broken leg has him this far down the draft board.
  • Nate Irving, LB, NC State - Physical, mean and a beast, could be a fan favorite very quickly.
  • Jalil Brown, CB, Colorado - Good player, got most of the attention playing across from Jimmy Smith.
  • Delone Carter, RB, Syracuse - Big power back that can run over defenders
  • Curtis Marsh, CB, Utah State - A big corner that can be physical and be a steal late

5th round (BPA no matter what position, besides QB)

  • Buster Skrine, CB, UT-C - Fast corner that showed up well at the combine, falls to the 5th because of the level of competition.
  • Jaiquawn Jarrett, S, Temple - Big hitter that I think would be a big time steal in the draft and a Mayhew-esk pick.
  • Cecil Shorts, WR, Mount Union - Something about those small school players, they can play if given the chance.
  • Mario Fanin, RB, Auburn - Might go higher, but showed up at the combine and would be a good compliment to Best
  • JT Thomas, OLB, West Virginia - Could be a good replacement for JP
  • Ronald Johnson, WR, USC - Michigan boy who could make an impact as a slot receiver.
  • Lawrence Wilson, OLB, UConn - Good player that could be an impact at least on Special teams.
  • Roy Helu Jr, RB, Nebraska - Power back that played well at Nebraska and could fit in well in Detroit.
  • Mark Herzlich, OLB, BC - Great story and if he can get back to 3/4's the player, this is a steal.
  • Jeron Johnson, SS, Boise St - A big hitting safety that could pair well with Louis D.
