Star Power = Primetime Football
Something that the 2011 Detroit Lions seem to have is a good number of marquee names that could put them in position for Sunday or Monday night slots.
The Lions have some special players, DT Ndamukong Suh is an All-Pro as a rookie, Calvin Johnson is a pro-bowler, and guys like Jahvid Best, Matthew Stafford, Brandon Pettigrew, DeAndre Levy, and Louis Delmas have the potential to be pro-bowlers. If Detroit can improve on their promising 2010 season, will they get to be on national TV?
The schedule is in Detroit's favor this year, after 5 seasons of difficult schedules. 6 of the teams we play have a brand new head coach and/or QB. With the lockout looming and the uncertainty of the offseason stuff, for teams like the 49ers or Panthers who have to travel to Detroit, it's going to be really hard for them to beat the Lions. With a favorable schedule, the Lions could start out winning early and maybe they get a slot either midway or towards the end of the season, say against the Saints or Atlanta Falcons. Division games are also really exciting to watch when it has playoff implications too. Superbowl winning Packers vs up and coming Detroit Lions for a playoff spot seems very intriguing!
