I'm so sick of the local medias saying how the Lions should've got a corner or should've got linebacker when the guys they wanted, Titus Young would've been picked directly after them at #45 for the Rams. Or any number of teams getting LeShoure after #57. I thought they did the right thing and got b.p.a when they thought they had to.
Nick Fairley makes an already solid d-line elite. His pass rushing ability alongside the best defensive tackle in the game in Suh will free up the defensive ends so guys like Cliff Avril should have a monster year. I expect this defensive line to be amongst the best in the league. Corey Williams, McBride, LoJack, and Hill add depth as well.
Titus Young was the third rated wide receiver behind A.J Green and Julio Jones. This guy is sure handed, run crisp precise routes, and is a very speedy compliment to Calvin Johnson. I absolutely thought they addressed that dreadful #3 receiver position that got NO production the last couple years with a bonafide playmaker.
Mikel LeShoure is this year's Rashard Mendenhall or La Garette Blount. A bruising back with enough speed to outrun people and go through them. I knew that when they traded up in the 2nd that they were going for him because he was rated the #1 or #2 running back depending on who you ask in the draft. A perfect compliment to Jahvid Best and his speed. Our running back and receiver positions just got a lot better, as our defensive line did as well.
The Lions have two more picks that they could flip into four and could still draft a corner, linebacker, and tackle. So, don't discount what Mayhew has already done by worrying about what he hasn't done yet.
