John Clayton On Schwartz Ground Strategy

I'm sure a number of you have already read this article, but I thought I'd post the link anyway for anyone else. I do love the versatility our backfield has now. The ability to scheme for each opponent as well as go with the hot hand....

That's an element I really love about our coaches. They're not showcasing old trends/brands but are on top of and sometimes ahead of current strategies.

One of the drawbacks of a team like Chicago or Minnesota is that they're built in a particular way, with certain strengths and while they've been very good in the recent past, they're kind of like a one trick pony moving forward. They don't have the versatility to really alter their attack and defense strategies from week to week. As their talented players who are key for their schemes age, they either have to do a great job at recruiting the same level of talent with those same set of skills or adapt...we're a team trying to build on adapting more fluidly - from week to week.

The versatility that LeShoure and Best bring (both in running style and as receiving threats) serve support the multidimensional qualities our TEs bring. If we block more like we did near the end of last season, we'll have a very balanced offense, able to keep the defense guessing as well as the ability to attack in all sorts of ways...
