Jeff Backus Not In ESPN's Left Tackle Top 10
ESPN continued its NFL power rankings series this week by having its division bloggers vote on the top 10 best left tackles in the league. As expected, Detroit Lions left tackle Jeff Backus did not make the top 10. In fact, he only received one vote, and it was from Kevin Seifert, ESPN's NFC North blogger.
Here is a look at the top 10:
- Joe Thomas (Cleveland Browns)
- Jake Long (Miami Dolphins)
- Ryan Clady (Denver Broncos)
- Jordan Gross (Carolina Panthers)
- D'Brickashaw Ferguson (New York Jets)
- Michael Roos (Tennessee Titans)
- Jason Peters (Philadelphia Eagles)
- Marcus McNeill (San Diego Chargers)
- Donald Penn (Tampa Bay Buccaneers)
- Matt Light (New England Patriots)
Backus' one vote tied him for 14th overall with the Seattle Seahawks' Russell Okung. The three left tackles in front of them are Andrew Whitworth of the Cincinnati Bengals, Chad Clifton of the Green Bay Packers and Doug Free of the Dallas Cowboys.

good list
I don’t think Backus belongs in any top ten LT list. Hate if you want but I think ESPN is actually pretty close on this one.

Honestly, the funniest part of all this
is that Backus is tied with “Number 1 pick” Russell Okung. Looks like that would have been a total waste of a pick, eh?
You're saying you'd rather have Suh?
Hey that's a timeout, I can play right? yeah, get me--get the F-- Help me up...I can throw the ball if you need me to throw the ball...
Pretty accurate
I like the fact that Jake Long is already considered the second best. It wasn’t too long ago when he was playing for Mich.
Sounds like Oher didn't make the list.
A lot of people said we should of picked him instead of Pettigrew. I’m glad we didn’t.
I wondered about that.

He was Left Tackle for the Ravens last year.
He didn’t have a good year though. Something like 13 penalties. Though Harbaugh still says he will be the Left Tackle.

I wanted McNiell in Detroit last year as well as this year...
Backus is not a top 10 LT. Love to see Jake at #2 but next year will beat out that damn Badger.
