Will we be a good, great, or poor defense?
First, let me start off by saying its good to be around other Lions fans. I live in Dolphin country, and its lame, every week I have to watch Chad Henne at his worst. I don't know any other Lions fan, even though my wife roots for them, she's not really a fan. This is my second post, and I guess I should have said this in the first one. Back to my point. With very few draft picks the last two drafts, and no free agency, I'm a little worried about our defense. We have the best line, with a bad nickname, but every other position is week. If Delmas can make a great comeback, then we would be a bit better, but it takes more than a safety. Houston is our only good corner, but I believe Alphonso Smith could POSSIBLY be a good, consistent corner. He showed amazing flashes last year, but I think the dreaded, what I dubbed, "The Thanksgiving Turkey Burn" may have shown he's not as good as people thought. Our linebackers are very mediocre, and we could stand for an upgrade. As much as I love Corey Williams, and think he should start over Nick Fairly this up and coming year so Fairly can develop (not everyone is as great as Ndamukong Suh), he would be very good trade bait, especially to a 3-4 team. Either a good linebacker, or a good corner. I'd prefer a corner, but would settle for a linebacker. I'd also like to see Caleb Campbell get some playing time as well, I believe he could be a solid linebacker, or a good safety, but we have 1 good safety in Delmas, and Erik Coleman, who I think is average at best, so I doubt Campbell will see much time at safety. Last, I would like a new Defensive Coordinator. I'm not a fan of Gunther Cunningham, and I don't want him on our team. Let's bring in Jeff Fisher (yeah right, like that would happen). Anyone but Cunningham would be fine with me. Let's hope I'm wrong, and we dominate the league, but I just don't see it. Thanks for reading, and please feel free to agree or disagree with my lowly opinions.
