This is less of a FanPost of opinion and more of a topic starter. Can someone out there lead me and others in a direction so we can get a better understanding of the Lions true Cap Space situation. I would really like to know cause I hear a lot of B.S. I know we may not have a top of space in this FA period but don't we have a bunch of money coming off the books with Backus etc. the next year.
As for Nmandi I think we would have to assume that he would only sign with us if Calvin signs a 2 year extension at the same time. Nmandi can't come here and then Calvin leave. I just don't see it happening. Calvin has a reason to sign an extension now. He is only making 8 mil this year because of the way his contract bonuses were structured. I think he makes 12.5 next year. So Calvin is going to make 20 mil the next 2 years. If he would to sign a new 4 year deal before this year he would probably get a 20 mil signing bonus and get all 20 mil before the first year starts and 30 mil over the next 2 years with a 30-35 mil 4 year guarentee. Then at the end of year 2 middle of year 3 assuming the Lions are where they should be he can do what Andre did and sign his final 6-7 year deal and Cash in even bigger.
There is a way to sign both Nmandi and Calvin this year with large signing bonuses and very small year one salaries that keep both of their cap numbers down low for 2011-12 season. Lets discuss this.
