Nnamdi revisted
Okay peeps!! I read the other post, which it was a good one. (pay da man post) And upon further review of the player I say sign him yesterday!!! Twice!!! I only ask you all this because of the value not price factor. For instance, if you could sign Ray Lewis in his 7th or 8th year of football would you do it? I mean it would be expensive but worth every pennie! When you want the best you pay for it right? I mean a guy who could effect how every single offense plays against you do you sign him? And i see the naysayers point, he cost to much! O my God!!! But, if thats the case we need to cut Calvin Johnson asap right? No! Because he is awesome right? So if we have the money pay the guy! Here is a video from nfl dot com site showing the leadership and smarts this corner brings to a defensive back field. And get who he is talking to.... Phil Bucannon!! The guy we cut last year. It is surprizing how great play and great veteren leadership can make even a bum look like a probowl corner. Imagine Nnamdi and Delmas and Coleman and Smith and Berry just in one room learning from the all pro corner for the next 3 to 5 years...bliss feels good.
Here is the top 100 hundred of Nnamdi
http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-top100-2011/09000d5d82077b9d/Top-100-Nnamdi-Asomugha
and in other news i saw some whoop plah about levy and i don't think we really understand how good his play is, so to reenterate the link given in the comments from the other post here is the link
peace and hair grease!!!

I like Nnamdi but I am SO sick of talking about him and the CBA
Which is one reason why I haven’t been around as much lately.

I agree with you on Brandon, would LOVE to have him!
The Dis-Assembly Line - The unofficial, official name for the next best D-line in football.
Mainly
because its a one year thing. He has a perenial bench player till 2010. Plus, it was in a Baltimore defense which provides plenty of help for corners by getting pressure and stopping the run. Besides, I’m not sure if he was their #1 or #2 corner.

It's a tough one
There’s no doubt that Aso would make our defensive backfield a lot better, and that may be worth the cash we would have to spend in getting him. But the question becomes, can we get another good player who can fulfill our needs for cheaper?
RIP Robyn Bailey 1961 - 2010. I love you mum.
That is definately the question.

the better one is
will we get one that has the leadership and training capablities as nnamdi. think of it like this lojac had more sacks then kvb but kvb’s leadership drives this line to make it waaaayyyy better now what happens when nick fairly learns half of the hard work ethic? we no have two 10+ sack dts and at least 8 to 12 on each de end
May I Suggest
…depending on the UFA rules to emerge, these 3 worthy candidates: Johnathan Joseph (CIN), Ike Taylor (PITT), or Brent Grimes (ATL)? Grimes is a 4-year man, Joseph 6, Taylor 8 I believe. At the risk of ad nauseam repetition, we do not want someone who has stated that he does not want to play for us. For the last time, forget him and make him play for his loser team and sit out the postseason wishing he had worn the Blue and Silver.

we dont have the money...
113 is what we are currently spending
120 could be the new cap.. it is also rummerd to be as hig as 135…
if it is indeed 120 though that gives us just 7 mil to sign
avril
logen

houston
5 LBs 2 starting
3rd QB
we dont have the room guys.. it going to be dam near inposible as it is

extremely underrated by you, just your opinion, swearing at me doesn’t make your point for you. everyone knows we will sign carp, palmer, follett, cliff, probably all going to be signed, and there will be some kind of free agency period. stop demanding that we all believe that the roster at the start of the season will bear a lot of resemblance to the roster right now. that argument holds absolutely no water at all.

Please, for once....
Show us some statistics or video or SOMETHING that proves your point….You absolutely have never done that. You just repeat things over and over again and think that it’s enough. Your arguments consist of “no your wrong, im right”. In NO cases have you shown us why you think Levy is horrible. Saying we need to sign 5 LB’s a starting DE ect…tells us nothing. We’ve seen it 32 times. We know what you think, now tell us WHY you think that way, just show us something that can prove your point better than you are doing now. You have no idea what the cap will be or how much money we have invested in our team after this lockout ends, so please don’t say the " we have 113 out of 120 already" stuff again. It’s old. Seriously, you and your line backer fetish is getting to be as bad as numba58’s “Stafford Sucks” fetish or Raphie’s idiotic nonsensical ramblings. Do yourself a favor and back stuff up. Anything.

Its not fair to say he stands there half the time
He couldnt shed the block and got caught watching the play go by half the time would perhaps be more accurate. Det, they may be right, we dont know. A healthy Levy may just equal a solid Levy. Im with you in that I dont see it either but until we see him play healthy its pointless to stir bitters into the koolaid. Let me put it this way, the kid gets a one year pass from me for a game winning return when we really really needed it. Barring another injury he’s starting at Tampa, come hell or high water.

no it is not
but you are missing the big picture. Right now they are 54( i counted, but could be off by a player or two either way) players contracts that are counted against the cap number. That is not counting the 14 free agents and the 5 drafted rookies. The Lions have 5 RBs( w/o counting Leshoure) under contract, 6 WRs ( again, w/o Titus), something like 5 TEs and so on. This is because of the Lions injuries from last season. Any player put on the IR, the Lions got a cap exempt for that players salary. But now there numbers count. What I am getting at is that there are alot of guys under contract that will not be on the final 53 man roster. There will be room. The cap situation is not as dire as you make it out to be.

Well watching him in games is purely subjective, so I can't argue with that.. with that
Stats-wise, well, let’s take a look-
Levy had 72 tackles according to NFL.com, which is tied for 60th in the league, sure, doesn’t sound impressive. But, he played 11 games. That’s a average of 6.5 tackles a game, put that into a full season, he’s clocking over 100, which puts him near the top 20.
He didn’t have any sacks, but then aren’t you always saying that our LB’s don’t need to blitz?. That makes sacks less relevant.
He had 4 passes defended, and I’ll admit, that could be higher. But it’s not a bad stat and encouragingly, those 4 PD’s occured in that 4 game winning streak.
He had two interceptions, only 3 LB’s had more. He also took one back for a game winning score.
To me, that’s not all that bad for a sophomore, who doesn’t exactly have a load of help back there in the back seven. Unless you can show me some proper evidence as to why Levy cannot handle the middle linebacker spot, I won’t take your views on this matter all that seriously.
RIP Robyn Bailey 1961 - 2010. I love you mum.

he got to play behind the bes DL in the game... 72 is NOT good enough for 11 gams

yea... but look at our run D.. look at our short pass D thats the LBs job an ours cant do it
LB is argubly the most inportent postion on the filed..
no postion is asked to do as much as LB.. every good team has good LBs.. if we truly want to get back to respectabl we need some dam LBs
RIP KURTIS CHAIVRE
What are you talking about?
72 tackles over 11 games projects out to 121 over 16, his other stats would be 4 ints and 7 pd. Based on NFL stats you are looking at a second year player that is a top 5 MLB and a top 10 ILB (note the difference is the 4-3 versus the 3-4). I realize no one is going to convice you otherwise, because your eyeball test trumps all, but really what else are you looking for out of a LB for his price tag.
As with most people who sit around and complain about problems the over-arching questions remains, Who are you going to replace him with? I suspect there is no answer only more questions.
you cant projected takles for one... or any stat really
and even if you could 121 is not good enough when your playing behind the best DL in the game
he also stands around way to much like he has no clue the ball was eavn snaped

then we still need to sign 3 more starters, LB depth, 3rd string QB, a return man, 2 guners with the remaing 4 mil
then we have CJ comeing up in 2013

Dude. Everyone has already refuted all of your points.
You have no idea what Asomugha will be asking for, unless you’re his agent.
You don’t know who the F.O wants to sign or resign. And really, the gunners?
When CJ’s contract runs out, we will have more remaining players to cut or not resign so we can resign him. I’m sure he’s our first priority.
This is the last time I’m getting into this with you. You are obviously bullheaded and won’t back down even when you know you are wrong or clueless on many fronts. So this is it, I’m done with you and your LB’s and Aso rants.

How about enlightening us with some actual facts on these subjects?
*Where do you come up with a cap of 120m?
*Where’s your research showing that Levy sucks? (Full season would have him in top 10 at LB last year).
*Who would you sign to replace Levy and why?
A lot of the current cap room will disappear once the CBA is finalized. 113m won’t be close. I’d bet it’ll be under 100m. Pay attention to details and quit pulling stuff out of your ass.

I love hot links! And I’m still amazed at how a Nnamdi thread became an LB thread, though I understand that $$$$ is how it’s all related. Let’s not beat each other up too much guys—even though det32 is right about not having much room no matter what the cap becomes, Somehow I’m hopin’ the ‘Back 7’ issue will get sorted out. Yeah, we’re not overloaded with superstars, but we have Youngbloods who WANT TO PLAY. Gotta be worth somethin’—the postseason! Remember the gal with the sign from the Lions’ SuperBowl ad: “I Never Stopped Believing”? Right now we have to camp on that, even if Goodell & Smith are still draggin’ their butts from meeting to meeting.

Hot links and brats.
"It's a great day to be great, baby!"
"Here I am, brain the size of a planet,
and they ask me to pick up a piece of paper.
You call that job satisfaction?
'Cause, I don't."
THE BEARS STILL SUCK!
what about
caleb campbell, what is his contract status?
I asked God for a bike, but I know God doesn't work that way. So I stole a bike and asked for forgiveness.

lol
he shouldnt be though…
campbell is a CFL guy at best.. if you cant make the worst LB core in recenthistory you shouldnt be brought up when talking about who we will have at the postion next year
RIP KURTIS CHAIVRE
he
never had a chance in that first year, fresh out of the service, and away from football for so long, with a full year of nfl conditioning, and time to learn the gameplan, anything could happen.
but, given his situation up to now, it’s way too early to just write him off already

well i think we need a KVB in the secondary don’t you think? i mean a guy that will teach the young guns the ropes i mean he was teaching philip bucanon on nfl films he was always thinking and teams don’t throw his way now what if the dline brung the pressure and qbs only want to throw away from nnamdi and phono smith is on the other side? thats at least 7 picks easy. we need this guy badly with him we go to the playoffs easy heck if staff don’t stay heathly shaun hill could take us to the promise land
it is much easier to cover below avg CBs then it is below avg LBs
specially when you have our DL
and when you look at the stats our CBs are acutely above avg them self and our LBs are the worst in the nfl…
RIP KURTIS CHAIVRE
hmm
59 new comments on what I thought was a dead thread….then I read det32 and linebackers and figured out why…

Ditto - Rarely a Dead Thread Here
…just too much knowledge & passion—and, occasionally, lack of it—on this blog. Keeps us all going and pumped up even if the Billionaire Owners and Millionaire Players can’t get it together. Think of it as our own ‘blogger-organized’ team workouts!
