Detroit Lions rookie running back Mikel Leshoure was in attendance for Monday's player-organized workout. He missed the first set of workouts in May, but he was at Detroit Country Day on Monday to practice with his new teammates.
The timing of the workout was perfect for Leshoure, who got a chance to show off his new tattoo. Just a few days ago he had the Lions logo inked on his left forearm, as well as the word "Detroit" above it and "Lions" below it. He also had "4·29·2011" inked below the logo. That is the date he was drafted by the Lions, and his new tattoo makes sure no one forgets it.
My first thought was that this is a risky tattoo to get considering very few players end up spending their career with one team, but Leshoure made it clear that the date is "never going to change." He called being drafted the biggest day of his life, and he wanted to honor the date and the Lions with the tattoo.
Hopefully the logo never needs to change and Leshoure ends up spending a long and successful career in Detroit with the Lions.
