Anyone's guess is as good as mine as to if and when a new CBA gets done but assuming it does by Mid - Late July, the FA market is going to be interesting and instead of having a few months to evaluate players; its more like waiting in line at Best Buy the day after Christmas. First come first serve senario and buy your package as quickly as possible before all the good stuff is gone.
In my mind players won't be as selective this time around. Money is a power force and considering players are going with out a pay check they will be anxious to get something in stone from any team that is willing to pay the man.
Let's take a look at the Lions biggest shopping list this off-season. From where I'm sitting, the Lions need two OLB's (1 Sam and 1 Will). They also need 1 CB, and a possible insurance policy on the right side of the OL.
I want to be realistic so I'm not even going to mention Nnemdi because I truthfully don't believe he is coming to Detroit. We've already had plenty of posts from folks on POD siting all the advantages to him if he came to Detroit.
OLB Ben Leber- Call me absolutely crazy but this could actually happen. Going into his 9th season, he knows the Vikings are on the decline right now and I can see him joining a team that absolutely needs an OLB, this is on the rise and has the funs to compensate him which Detroit has. Chad Greenway could also be a considerable candidate but he has recently expressed interest in staying in Minnesota.
OLB Barrett Rudd - Another consistent OLB with big size and durability. He's only missed 1 game in 6 years and could be attracted to the Lions if they land Ben Leber or vise versa.
CB Chris Carr - a 6 year vet with ties to Jim Schwartz. The Lions have to be attractive to any CB considering our DL. CB's now that there is potential for interceptions galore!
OG - Daryn Colledge - Green Bay put a 2nd round tender on him and considering our lack of depth at that position, I would give up a 2nd round guard for a starter from Green Bay.
I could come up with a bunch of considerable candidates that the Lions to go after but considering their wholes right now, these two me would be the most attractive "reasonable" candidates to fill our holes at and could do it quickly too.
