Linebackers in review do they suck or do we need to upgrade?

A ding bat with a bozo decoder ring(very funnie by the way) prompted me to do some solid research on our linebackers to see who really sucks and who played well last season so travel along with me to see who's the bum really. hopefully everybody has there bozo decoder ring on hand tighter than green lantern's ring finger because what I found was a lot of bad play from names you didn't expect. Are you ready? lets go!!

at 22-27 carpenter (the white guy no offense some didn't know) playing the strong side (the side where the TE mostly lines up) makes contact 3 yards deep up field which is good but besides his good penetration he forgot to make more effort to make the play but levy who is known to be soft took on a guard 2 yards behind the line and stuffed the play for like a two yard gain. And Palmer was on the back side but hustled to the play which is good.

At 1:11-16 Ashley Palmer makes a hell of a play even though he needs to wrap the ball carrier better but the swing pass is blown up great  in the open field play by Palmer on that play. At 6:45 Palmer takes on a guard and the back has no where to go stopping the play for a gain of maybe one yard.

so far, and this is no smoke up ya butt, Palmer is looking pretty good from game tape alone. its like they are avoiding him, they didn't throw at him much or run at him and when they did throw 2 passes his way one was almost picked and the other was incomplete. He also collected a sack showing good speed. But the guy they threw at all the time was carpenter. And it seemed like the game plan because he didn't look good there at all he was bad out of his breaks and just out of position.

okay lets see what we got. At1:44 carpenter gets sucked up in the gaggle that our great defensive line creates and I mean its a gaggle guys and Palmer did well in trapping the tackle so the play couldn't bounce outside his way. Levy is trapped in front of the gaggle and the back cuts back to where carpenter should be but Mr. Delmas makes a great play to stop the play for short yards. At 4:38 Williams jumps off sides and kills a Avril sack one less for him thanks buddy. The whole third quarter on defense looked good for delmas, palmer and eric king but others just looked like they could be replaced (especially carpenter)

4th quarter to go and we are done lets get right into it and see who showed up. At 5:41 Palmer again showed up and made a play to stop the first down run. terrible call at 6:05 but the corner over reacted and got a penalty he was right but he handled it wrong o well. Again, at 6:18 Palmer is all over the field running plays down looking good. Am I being biased? Is everyone else looking at the tape because this kid is showing up big time just look for your self. At 8:33 the safety makes a good play jumping disrupting the pass play looks like a delay blitz. At 10:21 carpenter gets to the hole late and he kinda drags the runner down but with no conviction. They are running like a 3 down package during the last minutes of the game. At 10:28 Levy makes a great play on a open field tackle.

So in our assessment (hopefully) it seems like we have a good player in Ashley Palmer and a very bad one in carpenter. Levy to be honest was out of position on a lot of plays(don't be mad at me but this film was supposed to show us how good levy is even though its one game Palmer looked good) and carpenter just look lost and out of position on most the plays honestly guys. So, when it came to pass coverage Levy got an average grade, Palmer got an above average grade(he seemed more fluid and involved in the pass coverage and Levy looked stiff) and carpenter they threw at and the play was there if the throw was any good and the QB and receiver timing was better. D-

and the player of the game(Lbs)  goes to Ashley Palmer !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Look at the game tape and you make a decision let me know how ya feel about my talent assessment and all that stuff. In the next couple days or so i will go into the Miami game(I'm looking at the Lbs of the the four game winning streak) to see if we can break down some Landon Johnson YAY!!! okay that was a little gay but i really had fun skipping over the bum Riaola to get to the defense snaps to find the guy out of place.
