Reports on Pro football talk have Cam Newton making roughly 22 million in his first four years with an option of 14 million for the fifth year. This is the kind of cost control that will help the NFL and the veteran players in the league. This is long overdue. The cut from the 78 million, 50 guaranteed that Bradford made at the number one is dramatic.
I could not be happier for both sides of this deal. The rookies will have to earn their money in their second contract like every other player.
