Nothing is official just yet, but as the new CBA gets closer and closer to being ratified, more details about the week ahead are leaking out. The details include the start dates for training camp, which are based on a new rule that has camps opening 15 days before a team's first preseason game. Because the Lions' first game is on Aug. 12, their training camp will open on Thursday, according to Matt Pomeroy.
Here is the full training camp schedule for the NFL (via Matt Pomeroy):
- Opening Wednesday: Broncos, Cardinals, Cowboys, Chargers, Eagles, Jaguars, Patriots, Raiders, Ravens, Seahawks
- Opening Thursday: 49ers, Bengals, Buccaneers, Chiefs, Dolphins, Falcons, Lions, Redskins, Saints, Steelers
- Opening Friday: Bears, Bills, Browns, Colts, Giants, Packers, Panthers, Rams, Titans, Vikings
- Opening Sunday: Jets, Texans
Once the new CBA is officially ratified, expect teams to individually announce their training camp dates. Usually the Lions release a schedule to the public that includes dates where fans can watch practice, but with all the changes going on it's not clear how that will work this year.
