Four down; one to go.
Seventh-round pick Johnny Culbreath became the first Lions draft pick to sign when he got his deal worked out last night. Earlier in the day , and now both of the Lions' two second-round selections are under contract. This means signedNick Fairley is the only rookie that hasn't signed yet, but I would expect something to be done soon.
Fairley said yesterday that it's important he doesn't miss any time, and with the first practice scheduled for tomorrow morning, I anticipate him signing sometime tonight. One of the nicest things about the new CBA is the lack of a lot of contract issues with rookies, so I see no reason why Fairley's deal should hit any serious obstacles.
When practice starts tomorrow morning, I expect all five draft picks to be signed and ready to go.
