Chris Carr Agrees To Deal With Ravens
The cornerback market is continuing to thin out. Earlier today Richard Marshall agreed to a one-year deal with the Arizona Cardinals, and now Chris Carr is no longer a free agent as well.
One more CB off the market: Ravens reached agreement with cornerback Chris Carr on a four-year deal.
With fewer and fewer options available at cornerback, it will be interesting to see what happens with Chris Houston going forward. Teams still in need of cornerback help could potentially target Houston, but at the same time, he might not get as much money as he once hoped. It doesn't appear teams consider him to be on the top tier of free agent CBs, so perhaps if the market doesn't result in him getting a deal to his liking he could end up returning to the Detroit Lions when all is said and done.

Chip on his shoulder
Hopefully this will let Houston know he isn’t as good as he thinks. It’s easy to be the best corner on the Lions and think you are worth more $. Maybe this will be a wakeup call and fire him up to work harder (when he signs back with the Lions of course!)
Well, that is one more guy that I would have liked that is gone.
I guess that we are petty much getting down to resigning Houston now.
Carr
Narrows my list down to…
Clements
Rogers
Goldson
and the most unlikely trade for Asante.

Still waiting to hear something about LBs
Tulloch and Barnett in particular. I was pumped about Tulloch but ESPN Insiders have him ranked as a 79 which is average and Peter King from Sports Illustrated didn’t even have him listed in his top 50 free agents this year. I hope we don’t overpay for this guy. Everyone on here has been hyping him up like we are about to sign Ray Lewis. He seems like an Avg linebacker to everyone else…
That about sums it up
Tulloch played for Schwartz in Tennessee so that means we HAVE to bring him here, no matter the cost! I guess I just don’t get it.
Barnett officially in Detroit though! So we will see.

Yep
If we pay him tons of money we are idiots. I HOPE he proves us wrong, but who has honestly heard of this guy before a few weeks ago? I knew his name but had to google him to find out why everone was making us “Playoff contenders” if we signed him. I trust Mayhew to make the right call.
If you haven't heard of him...
You don’t follow other teams much. If you had heard of him he would probably cost 8 mil a year. That is why he is such a good deal. He is young….coming into his own and a proven commodity wo injury concerns. Wouldn’t it be nice to have ONE guy that doesn’t have injury problems in the entire back 7. Come on. Just one???

If it's not compaining about Mayhew not signing the big splash players...
then it’s the complaining that he will over spend on other players. Why is everyone so distrustful of Mayhew and this group of management? All I can see is a smart and cheap group of talented F.A. signed so far. He deserves the benefit of the doubt since he has put us in this position of competing and brought together a talent, yet young team.

I will be honest...
I like Stephen Tulloch but I am not going to freak out if we don’t get him. I like Barnett, but I am not going to go into a funk if we don’t get him. I am fully prepared to go into the season with Carpenter – Levy – Durant as the LBs if it comes down to that. It is still a lot better then what we started last season with. Levy was hurt, Zack Follet was struggling, and Julian Peterson was sucking.
Follet
is a fan favorite because of his wild nature but I played against him in college and he has the same problem in the pros…out of control and not very good in space. attacks the ball carrier but easy to get beat in coverage and a liability in the open field. Petersen was out of his prime and played about as expected. Carpenter and Palmer should have a good battle, Durant will help with the run and Levy will be a mainstay in the middle. No problem with a Carp/Palmer, Levy, Durant lineup either. We need another corner but I hope Aaron Berry turned a corner this year. Sounds like Schwartz was impressed…albeit no pads.
He played for Tennessee
On a horrible team and he isn’t flashy and doesn’t run a 4.4 40. All he does is STOP people and Tackle. Basically what our LB’s don’t do. He had 160 tackles last year. His Madden rating will be MUCH higher than ESPN has him rated. 79 is ridiculous. There aren’t 5 MLBs that are better. Maybe not more than 3-4. He is NOT ray lewis. NO one has EVER said that. He is what he is….a very good MLB that is light years above what we have.

Lookin more and more like
#teamAaronBerry and #teamChrisHouston.
Doesn’t really sound so bad to me with a stronger front 7, Delmas and Amari.

NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora reports free agent LB Nick Barnett is in Detroit on Saturday for a visit to the Lions’ facility.
This deal might happen quickly. The Lions have been interested in Barnett since the lockout ended, and their pursuit looks to have piqued now that he’s been cut and is an unrestricted free agent. His position in Detroit is unclear.
I don't know if this was mentioned,
but I just heard on NFL Network that Barnett was officially released, and is currently in Detroit

Peyton Manning
5 Years, $90 million… Redic!

Worth Every Penny
He carries the team on his back and if you read about him, he practically runs the offensive practices. Literally calls the plays and works on what he thinks the team needs. Easiest job in football is Colts O-Coordinator. Without Manning the colts would be a sub .500 team. No doubt about it.
I know how crucial he is
But, how many more talented players can you sign with him soaking up almost 1/6 of the overall Salary cap… That leaves 5/6 for 53 other players on the active roster.

Same contract as Brady
Why don’t you complain about that? Probably a Michigan fan boy.
Actually I'm probably a State fan man.
Sorry bout your luck… But Brady Really doesn’t deserve the same pay as Manning

Maybe they can start a loophole trend.
Player/coach salary… Only half goes for the salary cap, the other is a part of the expenses associated with coaching.
Then again, I’m sure thats all kind of conflict with the NFLPA and the CBA

It sounds like
Irsay wanted to pay him a record deal but manning said he’d rather take as much or less than brady so that they could afford to sign other players
