Carlos Rogers

why is it that i dont hear a peep about Carlos Rogers??? IMO he would be a great fit for the Lions. He wants to be a #1 corner and thats what we need. Hes had a very good career and is relatively young at 29-30. He has bad hands but is a fast good press corner. Always liked him wnated him his draft year but i think he went a pick before us. I know Mayhew was a former db and thinks he can find hidden gems because of it but this seems like a good fit. But i dont hea his name in any rumors with any teams....what gives???

29-30 not that young in the NFL

When players hit 30 they start getting referred to as “older players.” When you look at younger guys, you’re looking at guys that are usually around 25. If Carlos Rogers had better hands, he’d probably have at least 15 more picks in his career. Personally, I wouldn’t mind seeing here…but he’s not a long term fix.

Rogers is a bad coverage guy

decent against the run. Wright, Houston, Phonz, Vasher are all better in coverage than Rogers.

I think you answered your own question...

“He wants to be a #1 corner”

…which I translate as “he wants to be PAID like a #1 corner.” I guess teams aren’t biting, and they probably shouldn’t. I wouldn’t mind having Rogers on the Lions, but he would probably actually be the #2 behind Wright, so I wouldn’t overpay for him.

Not a bad idea....

Good thinking on Carlos. He would be perfect wait and see guy. At the right price he would really add something to the DB depth. Anybody heard anything on Houston? Is it even possible to re-sign him?
