My U of M bias may have my intrest higher than it should be. I am still greatly in favor of Atlantas Nicholas as a linebacker but on a short list of guys. I'd add Dhani Jones as a potential pick up. 12 years in the NFL at age 33 does not make him a longterm answer but adds a vetran leader to the linebacking corp and a solid starter. If he dosen't get a deal with Cincy my thought was behind this D line and a young promising team. It might not be to hard to convince Jones to comeback to Michigan. He would easily start on this team and has been a 4-3 linebacker his entire career. Dhani hast started all 16 games the last 3 seasons and racked up 125 tackles. When the lockout is lifted Jones becomes a free agent and while he seems more than open to return to Cincy it sounds like he is prepared to hit the market.
So Jones will not solve are LB situation for the next years but he is a vetran leader who we might be able to get at a good price and would benifit the young LBs we currently have. I belive you can wrap this all in a Dhani Jones bowtie and call it a good move. Maybe not the first choice certainly not mine but I think he should be on our list of targets. He loves Ann Arbor and has made it a point to return on a regular basis. I don't think then new Lions would have much of a problem adding him to the depth chart.
