Randy Moss Retires
I've never been a fan, talk about a diva, I was shocked to read this after hearing what kind of shape he was in, and how he was out to prove something.
I won't miss his attitude, even when trying to play nice he was a dick! Here's hoping he doesn't pull a Brett Favre and come back 3 or 4 times.
Well here's to a great season, and a playoff run, Go Lions!!!!

Randy had a list of specific teams
He was willing to play for when none of them called he decided to walk away. He wanted the ring and nothing more. Even though he was a Patriot at one time. I actually do like Randy his attitude could be a bit much at times. Cmpared to T.O though Randy Moss was a saint. Freak of nature we will never see another one like that again.

Never say never!
If we can keep Stafford upright CJ could put up comparable numbers. You are right Randy was/is a freak of nature.

Ive detested this guy
ever since he blew up Bryant Westbrooks achilles tendon at the metrodome.

He is just plain greedy!!!!
It’s obvious he doesn’t love the game and just playing for money. This year is a total toss up. We really don’t know who is going to win the Super Bowl.
Football isn't a contact sport; it's a collision sport. Dancing is a contact sport.--Vince Lombardi
He walked away from money because the teams he thought had a chance at a ring, didn't want him.
If it sticks, it would be pretty impressive. He was really dissapointed when NE traded him. I understand how us lions fans can’t stand the guy, but he’s one of the greatest at his position, would be undoubtedly the greatest with a better work ethic. That yr with Brady was amazing.
I think Randy Moss is a all time great
already. but the thing with him is he wanted a ring or he wasnt going to put in any effort. look up Carson Palmer. Either he gets traded or he is done. Randy wanted his ring like John Elway did. I dont think he wanted to pull a “T.O” and go play for the bills then bengals. Goodbye Moss.
Ya think?
he is like top 5 in yards and TDs. its not opinion, its fact. HE IS AN ALL TIME GREAT

I will never consider a player an all time great who has Randy's attitude
He could have every statistical category wrapped up but the me, me, me attitude and the quitter attitude, I can’t give him any props for any accomplishments he made. Jerry Rice was an all time great, he played in some no win situations, but you never saw him dressed like a gangster talking shit about his team, and he never quit! He never “mooned” the opposing fans like a little bitch! I’m glad Randy never got a ring, he doesn’t deserve the distinction!

So wait.
False mooning of jeering fans and being ‘dressed like a gangster’ are offenses that remove you from consideration of being one of the best??
And here I was thinking that being the best at something meant you were better at it than everyone else.
Regardless of your personal opinion on how he dresses or what his touchdown celebrations are, the fact of the matter is that Randy Moss is undoubtedly one of the best wide recievers to play football, ever. There’s no question at all about that.

Let me qoute Deion Sanders real quick.
“Hold On Playa”. You can’t take the way he dresses and say he isn’t a great receiver. You can say you personally don’t like him because of it, which is wrong also, but his numbers don’t lie.
He was a key part of the two highest scoring offenses in NFL history. That has to say something.

Randy was great.
Not all-time great but great. Some plays he’s made over the years are amazing but if he wasn’t winning then he was a little bitch. I understand he wanted a ring, but there were no teams that could compete over the next few years for one? Come on. Teams are built over time and his win now attitude has him retired now. I’m glad our FO doesn’t have that same attitude.

Randy has to win now
He dosen’t have time to wait he might have had 2 3 years max before he would have retired anyway. Can’t blame him fot not jumping at a team like Carolina or Buffalo its not going to get him anywere.

I don't care if he was the biggest bitch of all time
Or that he didn’t play half the time, he was one of the best receivers ever. We’re looking at stats and what he did on the field. Not anything else. If CJ can come close to Moss’ numbers, I’d have a boner for the rest of my life.

That comes under the umbrella of douchery, yes

He is an asshole
He routinely quit on games and plays long before they were over. He was a liability in run blocking from the WR position. This “great player” spent more time bouncing around the NFL in his last few seasons than he bothered to catch passes. His time in Oakland is a prime example of who he is as a player. Transparent. He was never a leader, he was never an inspiration. He sucked the life out of teams he played on.
He is the exact opposite of a Great player. Stats lie more often than not. In his case, they tell the store of a player that could have been so much more, if not for his greatest nemesis. Himself.

So hall of famers are judged by
How much they lived up to potential? Do you realize how many hall of famers HAVEN’T done that? If only Barry hadn’t retired, he’d have gone down as the greatest RB in history; if only Warren Moon was allowed to play, he’d have gone down as the greatest QB in history, if only Gale Sayers hadn’t gotten injured, what could he have been? The list goes on, and on, and on.
The HOF is predicated on winners and good football players. High moral character can only mean so much. I know I’d rather have Roethlisberger leading my team than Tim Tebow, after all. Is this the Hall of Leaders, now? The Hall of Inspirations? OJ Simpson, Lawrence Taylor, Michael Irvin, anyone?
The fact remains; call him out for whatever faults you want, whatever he didn’t do, whatever he did do. The stats speak for themselves, the tape speaks for itself. Stats and tape invariably can’t tell “potential”, but they do tell what happened in verifiable information. And what happened is Randy Moss was one hell of a wide receiver.
I gotta agree
As much as I like the intangibles and other variables that go into judging a playing, in the end, the key is what they produce on the field.

great points.... but
Did Barry every quit on a play? Did Moon ever quit on his team late in a game? Did Sayers get every ounce of performance from his body? Did Simpson do any of these things? How about Taylor? for that matter Irvin?
You know what all those guys have in common that Moss does not? Not a single one of them ever put themselves before their team. Not a single one of them would ever quit on a play or game. Every one of them squeezed every ounce of potential from their bodies.
The NFL HOF is for those players that were more than just stats, IMHO. It is for players that excelled in the face of opposition. Willed themselves to a higher level of play. Players knew this is a team sport.
I am sorry, Moss is not a HOFer in my mind and never will be.
p.s. Irvin is probably the most “on the field” controversial of this group but he never quit on a play and he never created locker room even close to Moss.

One of the greatest ever
It’s sad to see him go out the way he did. Instead of riding into the sunset, he gets shot down, and falls face first into the spittoon. New England should’ve just gave him what he wanted, but not bad getting Ochostinko instead.
