The Detroit Lions have released an official list of players that have already been ruled out for Friday's preseason opener against the Cincinnati Bengals by head coach Jim Schwartz. It includes the following nine players:
- RB Maurice Morris (hand)
- RB Mikel Leshoure (Achilles)
- WR Titus Young (hamstring)
- TE Brandon Pettigrew (ankle)
- OT Jason Fox (foot)
- OT Jeff Backus (pectoral)
- DT Andre Fluellen (hand)
- DT Nick Fairley (foot)
- CB Alphonso Smith (foot)
This list doesn't include OT Tony Ugoh (undisclosed), CB Aaron Berry (groin) and S Randy Phillips (shoulder), who were included on the earlier list of players that will likely miss Friday's game. Chances are Berry and Phillips will be game-time decisions and whether or not Ugoh will play will depend on if he returns from wherever he has been the last couple of days. Since depth at tackle is thin with two contributors already ruled out, I would expect him to play if he returns to the team and is healthy.
