I didn't think I'd like the new kick off rules from a kick return standpoint. However, after listening to some people and watching some games...I kind of dig the new rule. If your kicker is skilled enough, they can pop the ball up high into the air and land it at the goal line or just inside the endzone, which makes the returner want to bring it out. This in turn give the kicking team a better chance to get down the field and get a stop inside the 20. It can also lead to some even more exciting kick returns. Imagine Stefan Logan taking a kick out from 8 yards deep.
