Lions Notes: Open Practices To Wrap Up This Week

  • The Detroit Lions have announced their practice schedule for the next three days. Tuesday's session will begin at 9:15 a.m. and the practices on Wednesday and Thursday will both begin at 11:15 a.m. All three practices are scheduled to be open to the public, and Thursday's practice will be the final one that is open to the public this year.
  • After his touchdown reception in Cleveland last Friday, Lions wide receiver Nate Burleson did LeBron James' chalk toss for his celebration. Burleson explained on Monday that the celebration was not the one he originally planned.

"It was a LeBron thing," Burleson explained today. "I wasn’t going to do it. See, I had a plan. I had two celebrations planned. I was going to catch the ball, get up, do the shot by (Michael) Jordan (against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 1989 NBA playoffs) and the three pumps. I’ve got it all down. I’ve seen it like a million times.

"But then when I got in the end zone, I was waiting for the ref, and then when I looked at the crowd, the Dawg Pound went crazy. They were cussing me out, talking about my momma, so I was like forget that. Where’s the powder at. Voom."

Hopefully we get to see many more Burleson celebrations in the coming months.
  • For his 26th birthday, Lawrence Jackson is hoping to raise $5,000 for "clean water projects in developing nations." Go here for more information.

I was happy the day we landed him, and I'm still happy about having him.

In my eyes it was just as good as the day we landed Brett Perriman all those years ago.

I'm liking him more with every game.

Anything you can do, he can do better

First, Nate, that was an excellent Megatron impression.
(I’m watching youtube this morning, can you tell)

So, the question is, is Nate Soundwave or Starscream? (post game interview he ref to himself as Ricky Bobby). After that performance, maybe we should call him Nate (the) Burl-e-man.

For the record, I am a huge Starscream fan (the actual transformer from the cartoons) growing up, but I think Soundwave fits him better.

But enough of my nerdiness. Thanks for the tight rope act(s) Nate, can’t wait for the encore. (and my FF draft isn’t until next week, so please hide how good you are until after I draft you….championship!)

Anybody who knows anything

Knows Soundwave was the best transformer by far………

Jesus, next your going to say Lion O was the best Thundercat and Beastman was the best He-man villian…

You have no right to speak on this forum…….. ; )

no one in their right mind would say Lion-O was better than Cheetara.

I was actually going to go with Panthro..

Gotta love the nun chucks.

But you sir make a great point as I rememeber when ladies (or girls back then) used to dress up as Cheetarah for Halloween. It was a great look…….

Burleson is a great asset to the offense, and a super nice guy.

I’ve met him numerous times in Detroit and he is bereft of pretense or ego like you might expect out of many NFL receivers. I was pretty excited to see him come here and he was instrumental in several of the wins from last year’s season.

He explained the chalk toss pretty well. If they’re gonna invoke his Momma, those pricks deserve a taunt or two.
