Detroit Lions Sign Chris Morris, Release Greg Niland
The Detroit Lions signed center Chris Morris on Wednesday. To make room on the roster for Morris, the Lions parted ways with offensive guard Greg Niland.
Morris is a former Michigan State Spartan who was drafted in the seventh round of the 2006 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders. He spent the first four years of his career in Oakland and played for the Carolina Panthers in 2010. This offseason he was with the New England Patriots until recently being released.
Morris appeared in only four games last season and only five games in his rookie year. In 2008 and 2009, he played in all 16 games each season and made 10 starts in '09. He only started in one game in '08 and didn't start in any of the 10 games he appeared in during the 2007 season.
Niland was released after being claimed off waivers from the Arizona Cardinals at the start of the month. He originally joined the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent out of UMass.

there goes another undrafted FA
Don't let my profile name fool you. My heart is, and always has been, with the Detroit Lions.
+1...Finally a center.
My day is starting off on a good note.

Gerberry
I wonder if he’ll get some snaps with the 1’s. I’d like to see what the man has. Gandy hasn’t been able to displace Dom and was a sieve at RG 2 years ago. Nearing 30 I doubt He’ll get enough better.
Ah but I was so much older then and younger than right now

Damn, anything.....Just show that they know the position exists and they can actually use someone else in that spot.
There’s a ray of hope.

From what I've seen of Gerberry with the 2s and 3s this preseason
I’m not very impressed. Although they had him at LG, not C.
Gandy,not Gerberry
has been playing rg most of the time
