Fairley's Foot Surgery
Offial statement from the Detroit Lions:

I don't know what to think of this. It looks like minor surgery, but a lot of missed time. At least doctors could pinpoint a problem and fix it, as opposed to being baffled. No word yet on exactly how long he'll be out. The depth at our D-line shouldn't be a problem, but I still want to see what Fairley is capable of, regardless if we need him or not.

Don't sweat it tooooo much
Obviously, it’s not what you want to happen. However, PERHAPS, this could be a good thing. It’s quite possible that Fairley just got something minor fixed, will rehab and learn from the guys, and will get back in there as soon as he can while learning the game. The BIG benefit I see that could come from this is it could really increase his hunger for wanting to be out there even more. And once he gets that opportunity, it will pay off.
USE THE SCHWARTZ!!!
I am just happy it was minor.
I would have been really upset if it was a lisfranc fracture. He will be out three or four weeks then it will take him a week or two to regain his conditioning. He will be delayed a bit but in the end I don’t think it will be a big deal in the Ws and Ls.
Ughhh

If one of these guys can't take us to the promised land, maybe we should shop for one. You can have the greatest running back of all time, but if you don't have a consistent quarterback, you don't win.

Hopefully he gets back in time to play in the dress rehearsal...

More concerned with his health than seeing him now

Agree
I want him to come in at 100%.

You know what I like...
That losing our number 1 pick in this way doesnt make me think the season is over… means we are getting better

good point!
not a great thing but he looked to be in pretty good shape coming in which was a concern of mine. that said, i was looking forward to seeing him competing for a starting job up to game 1. unfortunately this is a big set back for him but, like you said, our D-line interior looks pretty good firing on 3 cylinders instead of 4. This could help SLH get more reps.
Its not like losing Stafford.....
Where they will feel rushed into bringing him back. They will take their time bringing him back, I’m hopeful we won’t hear of any lingering foot problems. I bet he’ll be ready by the start of the season (fingers crossed).
Hopefully the Silver Lining will be
That he will learn the playbook completely. I’m hoping that Nick and Gun will be glued at the hip. Plus it’s not like he can’t do anything, there’s nothing to stop him from working on his upper body right?
Right

I would be totally fine with Fairly missing signifigant time
As long as he comes back ready… no rush.

The thing about this to me is
They said it wasn’t lis-franc, but they refuse to talk about what it WAS. The secrecy behind this seems to have an ominous tone to it. If they operated, they know what the problem is. If they would disclose that, it would take alot of the worry out of me!
AT what point is this Front office not keeping secrets about personel lol?
They don’t give away anything, so very hard to really get a read on it. If Stafford got stabbed in the face with a ice pick and popped his brain out the coach would just say “stafford has a head”
