New York Giants rookie Prince Amukamara broke a bone in his foot on Saturday night in just his second practice.
Aug 7, 2011 - Just two practices into his NFL career, New York Giants rookie Prince Amukamara suffered a serious foot injury that may keep him out of action for a significant amount of time. Amukamara finally signed with the Giants late last week, joining the team for training camp on Friday. But on Saturday night, Amukamara suffered a fractured fifth metatarsal, and is now facing surgery.
According to a report from ESPN New York, Amukamara will go under the knife to have a screw inserted into the foot to stabilize the broken bone.
Amukamara, the Giants' first-round selection in the 2011 NFL draft, left midway through Saturday night's practice with a member of the Giants' medical staff, and X-rays revealed the fracture, which will require a procedure in which a screw will be inserted into his left foot.
