Lions Notes: Players Get Sunday Off

Stay connected for news and updates
  • The Detroit Lions have today off. They will return for practice at 9:15 a.m. on Monday morning. Gates for fans that want to watch the practice open at 8:45 a.m.
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Aqib Talib isn't thinking about a possible suspension from the NFL. Instead he's worrying about getting ready for Calvin Johnson and Tampa Bay's season opener against Detroit.
  • The Chicago Bears had to cancel a practice on Friday at Soldier Field because the grass wasn't in good enough shape. As Brian Urlacher said, it doesn't make much sense for Soldier Field to not switch to FieldTurf at this point. The field is always awful, and it's the summer right now. Wait until November and December and it will be even worse.
  • Nick Fairley isn't the only first-round pick dealing with a broken foot. New York Giants cornerback Prince Amukamara broke his foot on Saturday and is also going to need surgery.
  • The New York Times has a look at how the new kickoff rule could change things next season.
