Do we need another RB?
With second round pick Mikel LeShoure done for the year (and possibly longer). Do the Lions need to sign another running back? Lets look at who is on the roster
Aaron Brown
Ian Johnson
Okay Felton, Clapp, Dial are FB but I listed them anyway. Keep in mind, Dial is a FB/TE hybrid that was known as a good pass and run blocker before he was injured. I would put him over Felton personally.
The running backs. We've all seen Best and Morris, and hopefully we're all comfortable with them. Aaron Brown has shown flashes and is having a pretty good camp from all accounts. The one we really don't know much about on the list is Ian Johnson. He's a former Boise State player who is most known for proposing to his girlfriend on the field. His best on field performance came in 2006 when he rushed for 240 and 5 touchdowns against Oregon State.

He ran the fastest 40 yard time for running backs at the 2009 combine. As you can see, he's bigger then Best but slightly smaller then LeShoure (height wise he's 3/4in shorter and weight 18lbs lighter)
He's spent time with Minnesota and Arizona. Is he worth a look, or do you guys have any other options in mind?
By the way, yes, my bias for Boise State makes me want to let this guy give it a go.

True. Then this dude is the man... good point.

In a word? Yes.
Unless they wanna convert Felton to a power back and give him the carries he was asking for last year

Also, not to be a dick
But 18 lbs on an RB isn’t a ‘slight’ size difference.

Yeah, thought about that after I posted.
Watching some clips of Ian Johnson, he keeps his balance really well when being hit and he’s able to carry tacklers a few extra yards if he can’t shrug them off.
LITTLE MAN IN BACKFIELD! LITTLE MAN IN BACKFIELD! GO STEFAN LOGAN!
Yeah I remember being surprised at the practice when I saw him
He was a stud in college, so I’d like to see him on the PS, but I doubt we’ll be playing him.
I mean, Aaron Brown hasn’t gotten a sniff of gametime, and we actually drafted him

Aaron Brown is almost all finesse
Ian Johnson actually has a bit of a power element to his game. I hope he can work his way into the roster. He was PS last year for us, hope that’s not all he becomes.

I'm not making a judgement on that
I’m saying that the front office and coaching staff are more likely to play a guy they drafted and kept on their roster for years than they are to just throw a UDFA into the lineup

The problem with Aaron Brown
is that he is not a good blocker. He missed some blitz pickups in his rookie season that cause the QB to get hammered hard. Since then he has not gotten much playing time.
Yes we absolutely do
We need a power back and Felton isn’t it. This pipe dream of Felton being a formidable Power RB is just that. He’s a FB and nothing else…and not a very good one either. We absolutely have to find a power back if we are going to be able to run the ball this year. We should scoop up a one-year solution here and get the best FA left that won’t command a real salary.
Possibilities:
Ladell Betts – 5’11 224 lbs. 10 years
Mike Bell – 6’0 225 lbs. 6 years
Laurence Maroney – 5’11 220 lbs. 6 years
Ricky Williams – 5’10 230 11
Who is your pick?
PS It just sucks being in this situation…this shit always happens to us.
There all plenty of option that we could go...
Mayhew is a master of trades and we have yett to see one happen this year, possibly trades.
Jason Snelling
Mike Tolbert
Anthony Dixon
Mike Goodson
Chris Ivory
Mike Hart
James (UDFA for Colts last year)
Could even look at LenDale White or John Clay something will happen soon…

All about Mike Hart right now
Thank you Zack Follett for all your hard work.Pain Train Forever

I would love to trade for Tolbert, but he would probably cost AT LEAST a 3rd.. and thats not worth it
I say roll with Best, MoMo, Felton, Brown, and Logan.. fuck it.
All men are created equal. Its just that some men are more equal than others....
I love the trade options...
Aside from Mike Hart really. I love Hart, don’t get me wrong, but he is too small. He’s about 205 and we need a bruiser. Hart hasn’t been that in the NFL. My tops would be Snelling, Tolbert, Goodson, Clay, White, then Ivory and Dixon…
if we already hadn’t signed Mike Bell.
Huh?
Says who? When have you seen Felton get any sort of play time or respect as far as being a ballcarrier goes?
The guy has been miscast as a FB his whole career. Give him a shot before you start bashing him for shit that you have no evidence of.

He was getting some chances before he fumbled a couple away at the goal line.
After that the coaches seemed to trust him less. Maybe Schwartz thinks fumbles are a random occurance, but I bet that Linehan doesn’t.

Are you kidding me?
I haven’t missed a Lions game in 8 years. I watch every single snap of every game, including preseason. I re-watch games as well. I specifically look for on every play, every player’s job and who’s doing what right and wrong. I am a true student of the game. I can’t help it. So before you go shooting off at the mouth about me, slow it up. I’ve seen Felton get plenty of opportunities to be a ballcarrier and at times he’s done well, but mostly he is inconsistent, unathletic, and doesn’t see holes particularly well.
With all injuries considered (including OT)
If we want a power running game now we need a real blocking fullback.
All our Half backs can carry the ball but none can make their own hole. They need a lead blocker. I hear Clapp has been blowin’ up fools in camp. If he can run even a little, or catch a pass or two he may represent the direction we need to go. This will also give us a FB to help in pass protection, because of our injuries at Tackle.
That would give us…
Best, Momo, Brown, Johnson (or Felton) and Clapp.
It's pronounced "en-DOM-ah-ken", but you can call me Kenny.

Leshoure's contract no longer counts against the cap if he's on IR
Or so I’ve read.

that is correct
If they counted IR players salaries on the cap, GB would not have been able to do what they did last year.

On the video on comment 1.
It looks like Ian ran between the tackles and broke tackles.
I think we should get Mike Bell. He is a FB/RB and good at both.
I also said John Clay on another fanpost. He is a tough runner

question
wasn’t hogue a fullback at one point, what about giving him a shot, keeps him on the roster and away from being stolen off the practice squad.
I asked God for a bike, but I know God doesn't work that way. So I stole a bike and asked for forgiveness.
I like him, but something tells me that with the stops he's made, if he was going to stick, he would have.

I don't know...
He was in Minnesota where they have a stud in Adrian Peterson and then he went to Arizona where they had what 26 running backs? Okay, they had 6 already on the roster.
LITTLE MAN IN BACKFIELD! LITTLE MAN IN BACKFIELD! GO STEFAN LOGAN!
what about working out a trade for 'Law Firm'?
i love his game and thats a loaded backfield, drafting 2 this year and signing sammy morris.
I think we can make do with what we have
Signing someone else though would probably help, unless they decide to make Felton a permanent RB and Clapp a FB.
Bring Back Smith!!!!
