Detroit Lions Training Camp: Notes From Monday's Practice
- After having Sunday off the Detroit Lions returned to practice on Monday morning in full pads.
- WR Titus Young and OT Gosder Cherilus practiced for the first time in a week. Both were limited, though, and Young had ice on his hamstring following the individual drills.
- LB Bobby Carpenter was excused from practice because he is sick.
- S Louis Delmas returned to practice today after missing a couple days because of minor finger surgery.
- Corey Hilliard practiced at left tackle today since both Jeff Backus and Jason Fox are out with injuries.
- QB Matthew Stafford thinks the offensive line is "going to be fine by the time games start."
- Although there isn't an exact timetable for him to return from a broken hand, RB Maurice Morris says he shouldn't be out too much longer.
- Tom Kowalski has a recap of how the one-on-one pass rush drill went today.
- Marines from the Selfridge Air National Guard Base attended today's practice and had lunch with Jim Schwartz afterward.
- The Lions have set their practice schedule for the next three days. Practice on Tuesday and Thursday will start at 9:15 a.m. and Wednesday's session will be at 3:15 p.m. All three practices will be open to the public.

What was really interesting to me...
… is that despite all of the talk about how horrible Durant is in coverage, he’s playing with the first team in the nickel package, while Tulloch is on the second team. That tells me that he’s not as god awful in coverage as some people were led to believe.
Or they see something and really want to help him get the reps to get better
whereas they feel like Tully is set…

From Killer's recap of the pass rush drills...
-Tackle Corey Williams got a good jump at the snap, got leverage and bullrushed center Dominic Raiola in the backfield.
-Raiola did a better job against Sammie Hill on the next play but still gave up ground.
LOL, what else is new?
Seems that kind of puts a nail in the coffin of the
“Corey Williams is expendable” crowd. He is absolutely the best NT we have on our roster.
I wouldn't be surprised if Jason Hanson could bullrush Dom Raiola into the backfield
C Will is a beast though

Marines in the house ?
Turn ‘em loose on the practice field. Hell, even after a plate of beans I’m sure those dogs would have shown what conditioning is… Oops, I forgot, no two a days…

Upside: One Word
Stafford.
LeShoure is a huge blow, no doubt about it. But what it does is put pressure on Best and the WRs to step up their games. But really, it puts pressure on Stafford to be who we think he can be. Manning does it year in, year out. Rogers did it last year. A very good QB can make up for a butt load of deficiencies!

I agree
LeShoure is probably done for good, unless he gains 20 pounds and tries to come back as a fullback or something. Speed positions just don’t come back the same from that injury. The good news though is that we can move on, and we have enough passing explosiveness to offset his absence.

WOW
That actually made me laugh because no player EVER has torn an achillies and never played again. It’s impossible. I mean Troy P played most of the season with a partial tear, Montario Hardesty is back to practice with the Browns. Not trying do be a dick but aint it WAY WAY to early to start writing this kid off. Every year guys have torn achillies and every year most of them come back ready to go. Might be sore and tight for awhile but his career isn’t over. But hey tell him it is we need a guy with a chip on his shoulder.

We will see what happens in the future. I just hope he doesn’t try to rush back too soon.
