Lions Announce Inactives For Bills Game
Nine players are inactive for the Detroit Lions in their preseason finale against the Buffalo Bills. They are as follows: running back Maurice Morris (hand), wide receiver Nate Burleson (elbow), offensive tackle Jason Fox (foot), offensive tackle Johnny Culbreath (illness), defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch (shoulder), defensive tackle Nick Fairley (foot), cornerback Anthony Madison (undisclosed), cornerback Alphonso Smith (foot) and cornerback Nathan Vasher (undisclosed), who was a late addition to the list.
With Burleson out, the Lions are giving Titus Young the start at wide receiver. He played for the first time all preseason last week against the New England Patriots, and it will be good to see him in a starting role tonight. Although the starters aren't expected to play for long, it's good that he will get a chance to potentially catch some passes from Matthew Stafford.
Once again filling in for Vanden Bosch at defensive end is Lawrence Jackson. Jackson started in place of Vanden Bosch last week as well for the Patriots game.

This might make CB cuts earlier
I don’t think Phonz will get cut, but Vasher not playing puts his spot in serious jeopardy IMO. Madison was already a super long shot and he’s probably gone for sure anyway.

I know theres nothing to worry about with some of these injuries
But nevertheless its a little disconcerning. Vasher just ruined his chances, KVB i think will be ready, and is there still no news on Fairley even though his start for the regular season has considerably shortened his chances.

is anyone concerned with the fact that Mo Mo has not seen any action
And we keep bringing in all these other RB’s? Is he gone after the final cut down?
How many lumps you want Doc?
Reading from that list...
Vasher and Madison will be cut. Culbreath will also be on the cut list and Lions will try and get him past waivers.

Doubt it.
If Culbreath was on the bubble he wouldn’t let a little illness stop him from competing in the last preseason game. I really don’t think he gets cut.

It's not a "little" illness is if he's vomiting and dehydrated.
Can’t play in those conditions, because a dehydrated player risks worse than being cut, especially in the heat this time of year.
Bell was also out with an "illness"...lol...

Bell was a FA signing. Culbreath was a draft pick.
I think they treat the two cases differently. The Lions knew back when they drafted Culbreath that he was a project pick. Bell, on the other hand, has had his chances in the NFL.
I see the outcome of this game as settling
1. The punter battle. I wouldn’t mind too much if Donahue wins out — we can stand to go younger if he shows the talent.
2. The final S spot. Silva vs. Coleman.
3. Will there be an extra OL, LB, CB, or WR? Culbreath, Hogue/Mixon, McDonald/Vasher, or D Williams?
4. Callaway and Pitcock vs. Fluellen for the final DT spot.
