A little Rant and Rave from Game 1
the lions played well tonight i have some thoughts on the game...and a litte fox sports slip up
Whether we all want to believe it or not im sure most of us held our breath when we saw Stafford hobble off the field late in the 1st half. Thank God it was just a cramp from it being so hot out. You also have to get slightly irritated with Grew, i mean that boy needs to invest in some old time stickum. Hes reliable until we reach the redzone then in my wifes words. " He gets Scared" and gets the case of the dropsies. Oh well im sure it will get better with time. Megatron was good as advertised, and we had some fumble issues but once again i think thats part of the first game knocking the rust off. Further more what was the deal with the O-line penalties?! The 2 against Petermen and Cherilus where so uncalled for and need to get corrected ASAP because that could have very well cost us the game and the momentum winning the opener can give us.
So finally i had recorded the game as i was at work for most of it, when i played the game back after the 2nd or 3rd commercial break the commentators for fox's mic picked up him talking and said " Yea its a Burbon on the rocks thanks" so since when are the Commentators getting tipsy during broadcasts these days?!
On a side note would anyone consider Trading Drew Stanton or Shaun Hill to the colts for a future draft pick since they are in need of a decent QB to get through the season?
Looking forward to a great season GO LIONS!

Did you hear the commentator call the Scheff TD?
He called him Titus Scheffler.
There was another instance where Stafford threw down the middle to Pettigrew and the commentator said it was in and out of his hands…even though it was a reception.
LITTLE MAN IN BACKFIELD! LITTLE MAN IN BACKFIELD! GO STEFAN LOGAN!

I didn’t catch that! hahah
Loved the musketeer btw!

Yeah he was dueling
Alot better than his Crip walk or whatever that was.
Also Pettigrew is know as Dropidrew around my house. He’s been getting better but brings this upon himself still.

Personally those two guys might sound better and make more sense if they were three sheets to the wind.
"Filling a need doesn’t necessarily mean you’re getting a good player," said Schwartz. "It doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re getting a player that best fits; it doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re getting a player that’s better than what you have already."
Yes
It was him and Chris Myers.

I used to
get loaded before heading to the pressbox in college to call the game. Always good to start the morning with a couple pitchers of PBR and Jager shots and a big breakfast, and then head to the field to call Olivet vs Alma game that starts at noon. No spotter, and a color man that was toking 10 minutes before the kickoff.
"I’m not a talker on the field, but if you say something to me, I may say something back to you or I may ignore you. It’s funny because a lot of guys usually come up and say something to me like right before, something like ‘Have a good game,’ or whatever, and I just ignore it. I’m not here to meet friends. I’m here to cause you problems and meet your quarterback. I’ll shake his hand when I’m hitting him." Ndamakong Suh

yup...
I was there from 93-99 and called the football games from 95-99. I was operating solo for the last two years. In 99, I even operated the board back at the station while calling the game (I didn’t have a board op for the game, so I went commercial free for the entire homecoming game by myself).
Those were the days when Olivet could hope to win 2 games per year and be slightly competetive in the conference. Things have changed quite a bit from what I’ve heard.
Did you go to K-College?

Don't sweat the fumbles, the entire league was plagued with them
Probably a side effect from lack of contact in the preseason and not having as many padded practices.
