Five Detroit Lions players missed practice on Wednesday, including wide receiver Calvin Johnson and safety Louis Delmas. Johnson was out because he rolled his ankle in the game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Delmas hurt his hip in that game, and the injury forced him to miss practice on Wednesday.
The good news is both Johnson and Delmas seem to expect to play on Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs. Missing practice yesterday for them sounds more precautionary than anything. From Johnson:
"Didn’t practice today because I rolled my ankle. I should be fine, I just have to get the swelling out so it doesn’t blow back up – getting treatment a couple times a day.
Offensive tackle Jason Fox, defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch and defensive tackle Nick Fairley all missed practice as well. Vanden Bosch simply got his usual day off, whereas Fox and Fairley are still rehabbing their foot injuries.
"Both of them (are) making really good progress," said Schwartz. "Both of them are on their rehab schedules and haven’t had any setbacks, so we’ll get those guys on the field just as soon as we can.
"They’re both closer than they were last week, and they’re both closer than they were yesterday, but they both still have a little ways to go."
Wide receiver Maurice Stovall is listed as having a hand injury, and he was limited in practice. Cornerback Alphonso Smith was also limited with his foot injury.
