Lions Notes: Jason Hanson Named NFC Special Teams Player Of The Week
- Lions kicker Jason Hanson has been named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for the 11th time in his career. Hanson set a number of milestones during Sunday's game against the Chiefs, and he also made two field goals, including one from 51 yards out.
- Don't forget to vote for Matthew Stafford for the FedEx Air Player of the Week.
- Stafford was interviewed by Mike and Mike this morning.
- Gosder Cherilus was taking reps with the first-team offense in practice on Wednesday, indicating he will return to the starting lineup this week.
- The Lions hosted wide receivers Hank Baskett, Justin Gage, David Clowney and Johnnie Lee Higgins, defensive end Everette Brown and cornerback Benny Sapp for a workout on Tuesday. As always, the Lions gave the players a look in case injuries happen down the road and additional depth is needed.
- Former Lions head coach Steve Mariucci recently said that the Lions have "some good scouts and they just needed to be listened to." Mariucci attributes the Lions' turnaround to Martin Mayhew actually listening to the scouts' evaluations, presumably unlike what Matt Millen did during his time in Detroit as general manager.
- Chris Houston, who had an interception in each of the first two games, has been working on improving his hands.
- Ndamukong Suh thinks divisional games "hold a little more value."
- A Lions fan got a customized No. 90 jersey that reads "SUUUUUUUUUUH" on the back of it. (Via Darren Rovell)
- WXYZ asked Lions players about which jerseys they would buy if they were fans.
- After the Giants appeared to fake injuries on Monday night, the NFL decided to send out a memo to remind teams that punishment will be handed out if teams are caught faking injuries.
- Nike removed all of the pictures of its new NFL gear because the images "(were not) intended to be shared." I'm not quite sure how you mistakenly upload a picture for each team's underlayer shirt, but it appears somebody made a big mistake.

I thought Clowney was pretty decent when Hard Knocks featured the Jets last season.

I like Brown
Another former high round pick that was underutilized and given up on by their prior team. Sounds like Mayhew pick up to me .
But we are pretty stacked at DE already
Matt Millen = Douche Bag
Hey Millen, how about you eat a bowl of STFU and go away you friggin’ dickhead. What a surprise that he didn’t listen to anyone. Maybe he was too busy living in Pennsylvania and he didn’t have cell phone coverage where he lived.
I listened to that Staff interview on Mike and Mike and I really like the way Matt conducts himself. He sounds articulate and grounded, I’m really glad this guy is our QB1. As long as he’s healthy, we can do some special things.
I don't like Fatt Fillen,
but, we wouldn’t be where we’re at today without him. (Barfs on Keyboard, walks over to decor Samarai swords and stabs self in heart, in shame)
NO HOMO!!!!!!!
Its too true
Without Millen, no Mayhew. No Mayhew, no Schwartz. Josh McDaniels, anyone? Josh seems to me to be exactly the kind of coach that Millen would beat off in front of the mirror over. Just think, Tebow could have been ours!!

Goz gets some support….
“I’d go buy number 77,” Johnson said of his Gosder Cherilus fanhood. “He’s a dog out there. I love the way he plays. He goes out every play. That’s my boy.”

Giants...
Should be absolutely ashamed. MNF? against the Rams?… and you guys have to fake an injury to slow down Bradford? Come’on!…. Come’on! (peter griffin voice)….
I was watching the game and shook my head in disgust…. it was blatant.
On a side note… Hey Ram’s GM… get bradford some weapons!!!! SHEESH!… I picked them to upset the G’men, and had I known that St Louis was afraid of the endzone…. sheesh!
Speaking of G’men… now we all know what the “G” stands for …

GIRLY MAN… .. YA!

I was amazed at the following things in the MNF game:
1- the flops
2- Bradford was on target (mostly) and his guys dropped everything
3- Eli was throwing like a blind girl and his receivers were catching everything
Seriously, you put Bradford with those receivers and I am thinking they would be about as good as the Lions
They also went total max protect and put only two receivers in the pattern
Which I think says a whole bunch more about the Giants secondary than it does about Bradford. I do agree, he made the throws. Looked crisp and had good recognition.

Bradford is a badass
He reminds me of a younger Drew Brees. He’s gonna be good if they can get him a solid supporting cast
It's all about flow baby.
Watch pretty much any one of these other games other then the PATS, and the offensives stutter and stop, the why and how comes, the reasoning behind what was just called doesn’t make sense in a lot of cases. It’s like “oops, that didn’t work, lets try this”, type of offense.
I’m not explaining this correctly but I picked up on it in the playoffs last season after watching a year of Lions offense. Watch the precision of the plays, how one flows into another, the speed of and crispness of getting to the line of scrimmage.
It’s there, and after watching a Linehan offense, you’ll say WTF? Watching these games.
.Does your momma have a Big Ass like your head?
and he didn't even look that good
His passes were way off target. He looked completely confused. After watching him screw the pooch for 60 min, I had to go watch clips from their superbowl to convince me it was the same QB.
Special Teams
While on the topic, Donahue has punted 10 times so far and returners have totaled a combined -1 return yards. 6 were downed (1st, double the next best), 5 kept the opponent inside the 20 (2nd best) and 8th best net yardage (though negatively affect in part by the inside 20 total).
Nice to seemingly hit on an UDFA like that. Much credit goes to Wendling and the coverage unit, as well.
AGREE AGREE AGREE
Donahue has looked GREAT. and the coverage has been surperb

I'm telling ya...
He won because of the hang time he can put on the ball.
It wasn’t distance.

Hello Lion Fans!
All freaking summer I had a computer problem that would not let me load a few certain websites, and POD was one of them. What a long awful mess until it got fixed. So While I checked up as often as I could at other locations this is my first post in a long time. I don’t expect anyone to remember me but its cool if you do!
First two games were fun to watch, way to go Hansen and as FMFDOC8404 said in this thread earlier …. Cinncy is pathetic, … but I do Ilike that Dalton kid.
That's horrible man.
If would have known. I would have tried to help you from TN. There are plenty of CPU guys on here that Might have gave you a hand.
