A week ago, I put up a post asking for nominations for the boldest Detroit Lions fan for a series sponsored by Guinness. I struggled to narrow down the list to just one specific fan or even one specific group of fans. The Lions don't have a person that stands out like Fireman Ed or a group that stands out like the Dawg Pound or the Black Hole, so I decided to go in a different direction.
Instead of narrowing down the list to one person or a small group, I decided that the people who never jumped off the bandwagon deserve the title of boldest Lions fans. I know this is a bit of a cop out, but all of the fans who never stopped cheering for the Lions, even in their darkest days, deserve recognition, especially now that the bandwagon is filling up at a very rapid pace.
With so many negative moments in this franchise's history, especially in the last decade, it hasn't been easy to be a Lions fan. In fact, many people have taken the easy way out over the years by changing their allegiances from the Lions to another team. The fans who never stepped out on the Lions appear to finally be getting rewarded for their dedication over the years, and I want to recognize everybody who always has been and always will be a fan in part two of this series of posts.
The final part of this series will be posted next week, and it will focus on the blog's boldest fan.
