Week 3 NFL Injury Report: Detroit Lions At Minnesota Vikings

The Detroit Lions have a total of nine players listed on this week's injury report. Two of the players are out, four are questionable and three are probable. Here's the rundown:

Detroit Lions

WR Calvin Johnson (Ankle) - Probable

WR Maurice Stovall (Hand) - Questionable

WR Rashied Davis (Hamstring) - Questionable

TE Brandon Pettigrew (Shoulder) - Questionable

OT Jason Fox (Foot) - Out

DE Cliff Avril (Knee) - Probable

DT Nick Fairley (Foot) - Out

LB DeAndre Levy (Knee) - Questionable

S Louis Delmas (Hip) - Probable

Star-divide

The main thing that sticks out about the Lions' injury report to me is that Alphonso Smith is not listed on it. This doesn't necessarily mean he will play, but the Lions apparently no longer consider him injured. Hopefully that means he will be back soon even if he isn't active on Sunday.

Here's a look at the Vikings' injury report:

Minnesota Vikings

WR Percy Harvin (Illness) - Probable

WR Michael Jenkins (Groin) - Probable

DE Jared Allen (Shoulder) - Probable

DT Kevin Williams (Foot) - Probable

LB E.J. Henderson (Knee) - Probable

CB Chris Cook (Groin) - Questionable

CB Marcus Sherels (Chest) - Probable

CB Asher Allen (Toe) - Probable

Levy listed as Questionable really has me worried...

I figured no matter what Pettigrew would be listed as questionable.

This would for me generally as well

But I don’t think we really have much of a drop off from Levy to Palmer or Carpenter. Oh how things have changed

You should only be worried if they're not practicing by Thursday or Friday.

Levy practiced both Thursday and Friday. Pettigrew returned to practice Friday.

This list is getting to darn long

glad none of them are out-for-6-week type injuries though. Don’t like seeing Levy,Avril or Delmas on there at all, glad we have very capable players to come in if need be. Hope CJ gets off it sometime along with the others. Nice to get A. Smith back too.

No Way!

Wow, that’s awesome! Could be worth some decent coin someday, but as a Lions fan I’m sure you’d never sell it haha

OT post, but...

… Here is an excellent, albeit brief, article from Michael Lombardi about Coach Schwartz and how we may have landed the next Bill Belichick.

i think we have a very patriot like feel to this team

Stafford is brady,Burleson is Welker,Johnson is Moss like, we have a good group of running backs, Titus Young could be Branch. Our defensive back field doesn’t have huge standouts just like them but they get the job done. Our linebackers are very solid like theirs.

Gosh darnit were the Detroit Patriots!!!

Lions making their own identity

Good article, thanks for the link lionguy016. Hey, while this team may remind us of NE, truth is in a few years people will be calling young hungry teams “Lion Like”. Schwartz is totally his own man, and one of THE most confident coaches I have ever seen.

Lets hope Mayhew and Schwartz are fixtures here for many years and don’t get lured away to some other “dream job”. As hungry as we all are for a champion, this should be anyone’s dream job.

I will never pretend to know more than they do; except in Millen's case.

Too soon to tell if

It’s gonna happen but I hope to see the day when a team is lauded for builing the way the lions did. Being old I also kinda hope it’s soon

a random dude started talking to me the other day

said he expects we’ll at least make the NFC title game.

I'm honestly so done with Pettigrew I could careless if he comes back.

He is consistently the most inconsistent player we have next to Cherlius. His drops ruined my in Fantasy Football. Scheffler/Heller is a good tandem… I never liked the pick of Pettigrew . On draft day I remember yelling at my tv that we didn’t pick vontae davis, clay matthews, or alex mack. any of those players I would still take over Pettidrop. Mayhews first bust in the making IMO.

drop everything?

give me a break. there were 75 instances he didn’t drop. That said he drops more than i like but the good far outweighs the bad.

Thanks for having me ..

This is an important game to establish pecking order and all . If Stafford stays healthy this team can begn to have an identity . Though you played well last year with your #2 and #3 . I see our teams have the same weakness . Depth and second half adjustments . The Vikes are evolving rapidly . Kevin Williams will end our second half breakdowns . Our CB’s if they stay healthy are a bigger matchup problem then you would like to believe . It will be interesting to see if we go no huddle on Offence . And if we call th CB blitzes on Defence . The Lions are an early season darling for many bandwagoneers . It’s been awhile so we can’t deny you the excitement . Can you stay healthy for 16 ? We will see . CB , LB and OL were not helped enough to get you thru without the avoiding of the injury bug . Our Safeties are weak . And our backs need to learn to pick up the blitz as our weak points . And I will be curious to see how your TEs do with our LBs . But I see key starters going down every year for the Lions when facing the Vikes . And Frazier is focusing on more INTs . We will see which team wants it more in the fourth . But remember . If you want to be more than a fan favorite . Think one game at a time . And don’t disreguard the true threat the other team posses . We both have electric special teams . Who ever avoids the others strengths will win that battle . And who will get more meaningful sacks . Stafford is a hit away as McNabb is very durable in the early season . Others forget he is younger than Peyton as he just signed a fiveyear deal . But good luck . And don’t be frustrated if it is a close one in the final minutes ……..We will see if your fans are this loyal if you have a dozen guys hurt in week twelve and your record is 5-5 . GB made that kind of recovery to win it all . As their fans bashed the team at mid-season . Will you all do the same . Time will tell ………Goth Out !!
