B/R Power Rankings (Week 4): Lions #2?

On the Bleacher Report's week 4 power rankings, the Lions are ranked solidly at #2, just behind our favorites in the Green Bay Packers.  They have the Bills at #3.  I am guessing this is solely a momentum-type Power Rankings list, but still....wow.  I wasn't expecting anyone to have them that high.  Top ten?  Yes, definitely.  But #2?  It might be jumping the gun a little bit.  I WILL say that it is incredible that we are 3-0 after having not played our best football.  It's obvious that we still have room to improve and the team is quite aware of it.  What do you guys think?

ESPN's list will be interesting, although I can already tell you the Jets and Patriots will be ahead of us, and probably a few others.

I saw that

BR has been high on the Lions all year.. BUT that being said.. I think between 6th and 3rd overall is very fair. I wouldn’t put us above GB yet, not NE dispite the loss..

Seriously?

Wow. That’s crazy. Why do I still feel like they are being hyped too much? Why can’t I thoroughly enjoy this? I am enjoying it, don’t get me wrong. But I have this tension about it.

I'm with ya both.

I’m thinking “This high, this soon? I like it but we have play 2 teams that are 0-3 so far. We did earn those W’s but let’s get a tougher test before we shoot right up to the top.”

I am lovin’ it though.

This is all so weird

My grandfather was a Packers fan, my father is a Vikings fan, I am a Lions fan, and there is no way in hell I am raising a Bears fan.
Oh, and I hate the Philadelphia Eagles (but like the Phillies)

My thoughts exactly

BR isn’t exactly the most reputable sports site in the world, but it’s weird in general to see the Detroit Lions doing so well and actually being praised in the national media. I’ve dreamed of this moment for years, but now that it’s actually here I don’t really know what to do with myself.

I saw someone say this the other day, but it bears repeating:

it all feels very surreal.

Did you guys see the size of that chicken?

2nd?

I think this is a little optimistic…I wouldn’t say we are 2nd yet. Not with teams like New England and such. But, hey, this is great! I was hoping I would see this day sometime in my lifetime and we seem to be there.

If they put the Jets ahead of us after what Oakland did to them I'm gonna be pissed.

Also...

U know that if Green Bay loses this weekend (unlikely) and the Lions win (Very likely) that we will most likely be first in the standings.

Does

B/R have one unified power ranking? I thought everything there was published individually by the writer. (In case you couldn’t tell, I don’t read B/R too much) Regardless, the site sucks and 90% of the articles are total trash.

"Bleacher Report Productions" does a video every week

Done by a guy named Matt Miller, that’s the “official” Bleacher Report power ranking. Everyone else does their own… including Matt Miller himself, which sometimes conflicts with the “official” one.

2nd on cbs. (jets fall to 11.)

Packers 1 Packers · Trends 1
Now that the defense is rounding into shape, the Packers look to be getting back to being the team that won the Super Bowl. That offense is almost impossible to stop.
Lions 2 Lions · Trends 5
Do I think they are the second-best team? No. But they’ve earned their spot here. Matt Stafford is the real deal.
Bills 3 Bills · Trends 14
See comments from Lions. They have earned their way here. Beating New England helps their status.
Patriots 4 Patriots · Trends 2
Even in the first two weeks, the problems on defense showed up. Against the Bills, it cost them.
Ravens 5 Ravens · Trends 7
Speed outside makes them a real Super contender. Torrey Smith is that guy. Now they get Rex Ryan coming to town to use it against his defense.
Chargers 6 Chargers · Trends 6
They sleepwalked through the second half against the Chiefs. If they do that against a good team, it will cost them.
Steelers 7 Steelers · Trends 10
The offensive line issues have to be remedied. It won’t be easy to do that at Houston this week. Mario Williams has to be licking his chops.
Saints 8 Saints · Trends 11
Drew Brees is a touchdown-throwing machine. But that defense has issues.
Cowboys 9 Cowboys · Trends 12
Don’t ever question Tony Romo’s toughness again. Did he ever tough it out Monday night. PS: He didn’t complain about the hits after the game, either.
Raiders 10 Raiders · Trends 19
They should be 3-0. What they did to the Jets — especially running the football — was impressive.

ESPN has Lions #4

Behind the Packers, Saints and Patriots. Bills are 6th and Ashley Fox is an idiot. She ranked the Lions 8th, the Bills 10th and somehow the Jets 4th.

If you can't dazzle them with brilliance baffle them with bullshit

by craggt on Sep 27, 2011 1:42 PM EDT reply actions

why is she an idiot for that?

i don’t think the jets are that good, but leos and bills sound about right…

craggt didn't really tell the whole story, but he's absolutely right, she's dumb.

Let’s see. The Texans are 17th. The Chargers (yeah, the guys that barely beat two 0-3 teams) are 7th, the Raiders (the guys who beat the “#4” Jets) are 16th…

Her power rankings have been really… peculiar, over these past three weeks.
